HELP! put nuderm system around eyes now very wrinkly

Postby sonicgal » Wed Apr 22, 2009 3:28 pm

I got the nuderm system from my Derm 5 days ago and he didnt really spend any time telling me how to use it (very annoyed with him) so i didn't get that you're only supposed to use it up to the orbital bone and I used it right up to my lower eyelid. Now my undereyes have aged about 10 years in 5 days and look TERRIBLE and I don't know what to do from here. Should I just leave them alone? Put moisturiser on them (they also feel bad and sting and feel tight)? Advice needed! Also what should I use on neck and chest which also has freckles and sun damage?

Sorry for your troubles!

Just stop treatment on the eyelid area. Use a eye moisturizer for the next few days... the wrinkling isn't SO bad, but the redness and burning is... they need a break.

For the neck and chest, look into the décolletage system - it's an extension of NuDerm, but costs less in the end vs. using the face products on such a large area...

use the search function for "décolletage" ... happy reading! This forum has a wealth of info :)

I'm confused. I keep reading on these forums that you're not supposed to put the obagi products under the eye area. However, my derm specifically advised me to do so as I am looking to improve fine lines in the area. Am I getting incorrect information? I've been using the system almost 3 weeks and seem to peel quite a bit under the eye area, but no real irritation.

I always stress follow your doc's recommendation, as they have had the benefit of seeing you in person :)

Ok, I just want to ensure that putting this under the eye is not going to cause some type of irreversible damage?

sometimes the eye area can be extra sensitive to products. in the past i had a reaction and it took about 2.5 months to clear up. i've learned that it's often best to just leave it alone and be very patient as the skin tries to heal and return to its previous condition. less is more.

I'm on day 3 myself and my derm told me i could use on the eyes. However i also look like i've aged 10 years in 3 days. Maybe it gets worse before it gets better??

it just sounds like your skin is having a reaction. this is what happened to me as well -- with a different product. even though i put the product on all over my face, the skin under my eyes started sagging, pulling, and wrinkling at the same time. i stopped on day 3 using the product and my skin didn't return to normal for 2.5 months. i had trouble sitting in a heated room without increased pain in my eye from the pulling skin. a reaction like you describe is usually an indication that this product may not be suitable for your skin.
