How quickly will I get red?

Postby sao309 » Fri Sep 25, 2009 5:58 pm

I started the Obagi Nu-Derm system yesterday...a full 24 hours in. I get hot when I put on the Clear and the Tretinoin/Blender and then an uncomfortable tight face. It is red for a few minutes, I think just from the action of rubbing it in because that subsides.

How soon does the red, itching, peeling start? My doctor did not warn me of what I am reading on this forum. He said my skin would probably be flaky but nothing about the redness, soreness, peeling, etc.

I am 63 and had adult, cystic acne for 20 years. That cleared up finally a few years ago. I have been having microdermabrasion monthly for a year plus had 4 Fraxell treatments back in 2006. I feel my face is pretty tough.

I just started the Obagi Nu-Derm system on Tuesday evening (September 22nd), and the next morning my face already had a little sunburned look to it. I have very fair, rather sensitive skin, however. I'm 28 and wasn't prescribed the tretinoin...I would probably really be hurting by now if I was! I am using the Exfoderm Forte and I believe that is what is making me so red. My doctor also said I shouldn't expect to peel, but rather just flake a little, which I am...a little. Your skin must definitely be tougher than mine as I look ridiculous right now with a bright red face just after a few days. I sure hope it's worth it! Thank goodness I work from home and my husband is planning a business trip for the next couple of weeks.

Thanks, candieapples. I started on September 24 and my face is a little red today but nothing major. Guess we need the flaking to happen so as to get the improvement. There are many success stories on the web. Good luck to you with your treatment

I started it aug 5th, and went in really slow. I only did both night and day protecal every other day, and stayed away from my nose areas and the corners of my mouth. When I did get dry, I bought the action moist, and used that also. After trying lots of systems, this has been my favorite so far, and actually had someone ask it I had botox done on my forehead:) for someone over 40, that was nice to hear.
