Obagi for scars?

Postby tennismom42 » Wed Oct 14, 2009 7:15 am

Hi, I have hundreds of tiny red scars on my upper thighs (they look like red dots and they are completely level with the skin) from an electrolysis treatment 8 months ago. I have gone for a consultation with a doctor who offers Obagi, fraxel, etc, and she thought the fraxel "might" help. I am curious after seeing some before/after pics of Obagi as to why she didn't suggest Obagi. Is it crazy to try something like that on my legs and does anyone think it may help the red dots (scars)? Thanks!

The one thing obagi can't do well is help redness - Your safest bet is time. You could use Retin-A to help speed up the cell cycle, but really patience is a virtue. :( I'm not 100% that fraxel is your answer either. Remember, docs purchase lasers, so they are more apt to sell their use (I think it should be "off site," like pharmacies - imagine: if your doc sold say Lipitor, wouldn't they be more likely to recommend it?!).

Keep looking around, or find a physician that has a VBeam if you ned more instant results, that's a better bet than Fraxel.

Cheers, KD

Thank you for the advice. Maybe I'll stick with Retin-A for now and look into a vbeam laser. A fraxel did seem a bit extreme. :)
