Obagi WITHOUT Tretinoin

Postby moll2000 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 8:46 am

Hi All,

Any help would be appreciated on this...I am currently using the Obagi Nu Derm system WITHOUT Tretinoin. I am definitely seeing lightening of my hyperpigmentation and have visited my dermatologist but she has advised me not to use the Tretinoin as it would be too harsh.

What do you guys think of this?? Do you think that the same results are achievable over a longer period of time without Tretnoin?

Are any of you using the system WITHOUT Tretnoin/Retin A??

Any thoughts are appreciated.

thanks!!

I hope you are continuing to see lightening of your hyperpigmentation without using Tretinoin. If my doctor tells me not to use something, I don't use it. Tretinoin does help in reducing hyperpigmentation but it also makes your skin significantly more sensitive to the sun. I was using Tretinoin twice a week with Obagi (it worked well) but stopped 6 weeks before vacation, per my doctor's instructions. But apparently that wasn't enough time b/c while away and using Obagi SPF 50 sunblock applied every 45-60 minutes and wearing a big sunhat my skin just got cooked.

It has taken me two months of Obagi treatment with Tretinoin 4 times a week to see some clearing but my skin will never be as clear as it was after the initial round of Obagi and I'm avoiding the sun whenever possible. I suspect if I'd only been using Obagi and had stopped 6 weeks prior to vacation my skin wouldn't have the new hyperpigmentation I got on vacation.

Good luck.
