Oily skin and Obagi - what kind of makeup should I use?

Postby SanyBelle » Sat Sep 12, 2009 11:11 am

I'm trying the Obagi New Derm (the little travel bottles say "Medical"). I use 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the morning and 1, 2, 3, 5+RetinA .1 in the evening. I've been using it for a couple of months now, my skin is smoother but still red and still quite oily.

What kind of makeup should I use? I currently use glo minerals powder base and glo perfecting power and oil absorbing sheets during the day to try to reduce some of the oil, but I'm still not happy. Can the glo minerals be causing some of my oil? I was thinking about trying Bare Minerals or some other brand but I wanted to get your thoughts before I spent more money on makeup. I can't see my PS's nurse for 2 more weeks to talk about this.

Thanks! I'm not a teen, I'm 53!! I should be over this problem in my life by now! I had full face CO2 in April 2008 for acne marks.

hmm... you might try bare minerals, but really, if you live in a hot and humid area, you might be at a loss. :( I've read your posts (in TX, very oily, wanted accutane)... have you tried micro-botox?! this works very well to stop oil production in the skin... look for someone in your area experienced and talk to them about it.

Thanks KDBelle! I'll look into micro-botox. I live in Florida and travel weekly to Texas for work... From one hot and humid climate to another.... I'll try the Bare Minerals too.

Will my face stay red for as long as I use the retin-a?

I've been on the nu derm line about 8 weeks. I use bare minerals, but use a primer under it, and this keep it shine free. I have used the bare minerals primer and it works well for me. I always put mineral veil on also, after trying many many finishing powders, this is my favorits

Thanks shopqueen, I bought the primer and the veil and it seems to be working well... in combination with the makeup and the Obagi... I'm not completely oil free, but I'm getting better! =D>
