I think what the "other" people in the other thread were concern about was that you were going to change your appearance because of what OTHERS thought - it appeared that you were trying to please someone else and it had nothing to do with you. That is what i find the same between you and my son.
yes read the book it is small and an easy read.

We ultimately get plastic surgery to be more pleasing to other people, whether we consciously recognize it or not.

I was lucky enough that someone was able to partially illuminate my flaws, I'm just not sure I'll be able to afford, I hope they can finance me.

I disagree - you are making generalizations
people get plastic surgery for themselves lol I'm 49 years old and i could care less how pleasing I am to anyone but myself.

Maybe I am making generalizations.

But, I still want to get PS really, really bad but no one wants to point out my (external) flaws.

And now...I feel like I've been deceived as far as my looks go. I've been told my physical goals are unattainable, by others. This sucks...

What I've noticed about you
is that you take seriously the nasty and mean things that rude and mean people tell you and when someone that is honest with you and nice, you disbelieve them.

Well, according to some people on here, I come across as emotionally weak. So, naturally, I'm going to doubt their words, as they probably don't want to "hurt" me. Does that make sense?

No it makes no sense - you don't know these people or me for that matter - there is no incentive to be "kind or spare your feelings" so you are probably getting trustworthy answers from the people that you say are "not wanting to hurt you".
I would be more prone to find suspect the negative nasty people as I find most people like that are the ones that have self esteem and jeasousy issues. IMHO and life experience nice people don't have those issues.

Yeah, you might be right. I just totally lack a sense of self atm. Thanks for your replies. I still feel clueless.
