I've never tried it but I have seen it done. It stays straight 6weeks to 9 months. Depends on who is doing it and how good their skills are.

Its a relaxer (sort of like a perm) that makes curly, frizzy hair straight...it's cost more than a car not though.

yesterday i was at the salon and funny it is that we were discussing Brazilian Keratin Treatment. it is same as straightener . i was told it works best on frizzy hair (which i have) and i might not have to style it every day. but if you have curly hair you might still use the flat iron. it costs $150 here in ny and works up to 2-6 months. the reason for such broad time span is that they fuse keratin into the hair with heat and it washes out. the time span depends on how often you wash your hair. i'll be damn to spend that money on something that that might have short term.

I've gotten the Brazilian Keratin Treatment done a few times and the most it's lasted was 3 months and I paid $400 each time here in Cali :?....it did work to tame the frizzies and it made my wavy hair straight, I just wish it lasted longer. The ones I used had formaldehyde in them...but I'll be using a formaldehyde-free version next week.

My cousin's girlfriend and the office manager at my firm get it done regularly but they pay $300 at a time. They both swear by it and their hair does like look nice. All they do is wake up and comb it down and it stays straight (some times they may use the hair iron to get rid of dents from sleep).

But unlike a perm when it starts to wear off its not just at the roots, you get the frizzies everywhere. Funny thing that the office manager just walked by and all I kept thinking was, it must be close to her hair appointment because her do looks hurt-up

Bottom line is that its well worth it if you want to always have straight hair (I personally like the versatility of being able to change my do between curly and straight). I think its better for women that have difficult curly hair, you know the type that can only stay straight if you go to the salon and stay under the heater for 4 hours. $150 is not bad at all - where in NY was this??
