Just had my surgery...

Just had my surgery...

Postby Llamaboy12 » Mon Apr 02, 2012 10:38 am

Had it this morning, in my bandage (its horrible lol). Saw my ears briefly..couldn't tell too much because the mirror was close to my head, but my ears look really pinned back. Pain starting to set in now but the bandage on my head is not fun. He said they looked perfect. I was awake during the surgery and it was painless ( felt weird getting the shots in the ear though).

Get off the large bandage tomorrow and just wear a headband. Will see how it goes.

I trained myself to sleep on my back so that should be a help! Will keep everyone posted!

Congratulations! So happy for you sounds like all went great! Keep ahead of that pain, take your meds on time for sure.

Good for you for training yourself to sleep on your back before surgery. I wish I could do that!

Well, get lots of sleep and keep us up on how you do. Glad you get the bandage off tomorrow.

It took me a solid two weeks to adjust to it and now I am finally getting use to it.

Well saw my ears again and they aren't too swollen which is nice. Have my head band on, and my doctor said just use it for protection then at night.

The pain was rough the first night, and I felt nauseous in the morning. Besides that I might just take a tylenol to go to sleep later. My ears feel numb and some 'sensation' behind the ear (I assume I will feel that as the tissue builds ups etc).

I am only worried about relapse, he said its possible they will settle/come out more. Time will tell but its a 10000% improvement and could not be happier!

I am so happy for you, and don't worry about anything. If they come out a little you will still have a fantastic improvement and that's what matters!

I hope tonight you are not in pain. Were you eating something when taking pain meds? That helps. I always keep crackers on the nightstand which I will have a couple as soon as I wake in the morning before standing up. Keeps me from feeling nauseous, even if it is not time for pain meds.

Yes even though its been since Monday the improvement looks great! Swelling is quite minimal (left ear more so than right). I do have swelling in my face/jaw area. The doctor said it will travel down my neck then leave. I have a stiff neck which is worse than my ears lol..no pain in them really, just an odd sensation.

If anyone does this I recommend you train to sleep on your back early on, that is the only real downside IMO.

I will take a week or so off from work (have to answer a phone so that is a negative).

who did your surgery?

-You should be able to wash your hair after 48 hours, but I waited 4 days. -Most of the swelling will be gone by 2 weeks.
-Should speak to the doctor if unhappy with results within the 1st month as it becomes harder to adjust after the scar tissue sets in

Most importantly, its done. Enjoy!

Thanks all set...and just like every one else I am experiencing a bit of rebound...I can see my ears closer to my head then come out to a natural point...they are settling in and swelling is just about gone. They are only red, looks like I have been in the cold.

Stiff neck/can't move it prolly because I am worried about hurting my ears lol.

My ears are more symetrical/even now vs pushed back... I thought for a revision you would have to wait 6 months - 1 year for healing. Only problem I can see is on part comes out a bit more (only I notice it). No one even knew I had an otoplasty! Worse part is the headband after surgery the rest is quite easy IMO.

As Dr. Le puts it "massaging the ears to its correct position". This can only be done by the plastic surgeon before complete healing takes place.

Update no real problems. Just a very bad stiff neck from sleeping/feeling like I can't move my head or my ears will pop out lol. Anyways they have come out a little. They look great when I take pics, my head look ' refined'.

like many here I was wondering if a revision is possible to give them that look to pin them back. I am guessing it should be easier due to less cartiladge etc. Again in no rush I am 95% satisfied and really a great procedure. Boosted my looks/confidence.

btw after two weeks I was working out.resume normal activities. Seems like that was my recovery time. I felt some weird sensation in the ears only a few times almost like the stitches were trying to pull away/mend. No real pain though.

recovery was quick about a month out...ears came out a little...they look normal/symmetrical now.

All in all its a HUGE difference in pictures. Best decision I made..
