Any information on this Doctor? Is he good for otoplasty? I'm based in Scotland which is a long way from his base in London. So I was just enquiring whether it would be good to see him in regards to otoplasty.

Thank You.

I have a consultation booked with Dr Kang in november, not for traditional otoplasty, as he is piloting a new procedure the ear fold implant, which places a small metal implant in the front surface of the ear which has a predetermined shape and apparently grips the cartlidge in the ear to achieve its results.
It is undergoing clinical trials, but is available to private patients at one hospital in london.
I made enquires about it in early july and november was the first available consultation.
It seems to be a less invasive procedue than traditional otoplasty, but being so new info as to its success rate and complications are limited. I think the clinical trial is in fact due to finish next month so hopefully by time I see him the results will be known.
From what ive read so far they had hoped that the implant would over time permanently mould the ear cartlidge to the new shape so that the implant could be removed. However from what ive been able to find so far whilst this might be successful for children, its seems for adults the implant may have to remain in place permanently.
If you google earfold procedure you will find some info about it and some press coverage.
I have seen a surgoen regarding traditional otoplasty, but am holding off commiting until I have seen Dr Kang about this new method.

Hi Donna,

I was just wondering how you got on with your appointment for the earfold procedure?

I have also signed up to for an appointment but such is the demand that I have only been able to be put on the waiting list for a consultation.

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Thanks
