My Otoplasty Journey

My Otoplasty Journey

Postby rmurphy1139 » Wed Mar 11, 2015 3:50 am

Hello all this is my first post here.

I've wanted to have my ears pinned back for a long time now and finally decided to go through with it this year. I had a consultation in December 2014 in Derby to discuss 'earfold' as a potential solution but I wasn't really sold on what this could do to fix my particular problem. The cause of protrusion in my case is due to a larger than normal conchal bowl which requires a more traditional procedure to correct.

I had my initial consultation with Mr Mark Simmons in January. I was very pleased with the information presented to me and everything was explained clearly. Mr Simmons is an ENT specialist who has performed 50 - 60 procedures similar to the one I'll be having. My only cause for concern is general anaesthetic rather than local.

So as I write this I'm in at 9am tomorrow for the big day. Feeling a little nervous now, not about having the surgery, but about the results once my bandages come off. I'll be using this post to blog the recovery process in the hope it will inform others and help to keep me sane as I sit at home all day.
