Otoplasty post op

Otoplasty post op

Postby csac0004 » Wed Feb 13, 2013 7:52 am

I did the surgery last Friday so today's my 5th day post op and my right ear hurts more than the left ear. to be fair I feel like my left ear completely healed (I know it didn't but that's how I feel at the moment). my plastic surgeon said that my left ear was protruding more so my common sense would tell me that if one ear had to hurt more than the other, it would be my left ear not the right.. is there any reason why this is happening?

and since my ears are covered with this huge bandage how would you know that the ear is swollen?

Thanks and hopefully everyone got great results :-)

you should be able to tell by your neck/jaw...if one side is more swollen then that ear probably will be. To be honest my recovery was rather quick and swelling was gone really within a few days...I just had a bad stiff neck...

just relax...my ears looks somewhat assymetrical and now a year later almost perfect! the only thing you should be worried about if bending them forward...after a few months you will be fine. Good luck and enjoy the new ears!

No not at all, you will obsess with results (I did lol) but give it time swelling should go down pretty quick 1-2 weeks. then your ears will take their shape and slowly heal.

I had my bandage removed today..overall I'm quite happy :) although the top part of my left ear still protrudes a bit but it doesnt bother me and some said it may get better with time? anyway, i have some sort of scab on my right ear but my surgeon said it will heal itself over the next 2-3 weeks and my ears are still quite numb..10 days pre-op!

nice, IMO you really need to wait a good 6months- 1 year for full results...Your ears should stay but they may adjust by 1-2 mm. Nothing major and 99.99999999% people will never notice. Still people don't notice I had an op done. My parents can only tell when comparing pics. Its funny. Enjoy the new ears!
