alcohol after rhinoplasty

alcohol after rhinoplasty

Postby menickhopeful » Sat Oct 08, 2011 2:16 am

So tonight I hung out with my friends and I had 2 beers and 2 cigarettes (when I drink beer I tend to smoke). I feel pretty guilty. It's been 9 days since my surgery.

Will this set me back a lot on my healing?

I definitely would not smoke, it can slow down the healing, limit blood supply and possibly lead to necrosis. I have been told this numerous times for any surgery. As far as drinking that is going to give you extra swelling, I would avoid it as well.

You spent so much time and money to get this done, you love your results. If I were in your shoes I would do everything in my power to ensure healing goes smoothly. Just my opinion :)

I am 3 1/2 weeks post op. Would it be ok to have some wine with dinner once in a while at this point?

I would not drink for a month +..however your doctor should have told you that etc. A glass of wine or so would be fine IMO.

A drink here or there isn't going to hurt, but if you can avoid it, you'll swell less. Even now, at six months, I swell if I have more than one glass of wine (and I often have a second glass. :)
