I recenlty had a very complicated 5 hour revison with Dr. Shah. In fact it was 2 weeks ago. Normally I would not post so early however I like the rest of you out there read all this written stuff for months and months and was most confused.
This was my 4rth rhinpplasty having gone to 2 of the the so called best revisionist in this country.
Let me first say that I do not think that I have met a more conscience nor kind doctor. He actually spent one hour with me during my phone consultation. This of course does not guarantee a great outcome as I know.
So far so good. Of course it is still early - however it appears that Dr. Shah has defintely listened to what I had to say. Let me aaure you I am not an easy patient since I have done this 4 times before and of course was extremely nervous.
Normally I would not be posting so early nor perhaps at all. However I like all of you have been reading this site and driving myself crazy. It is a big decision . Yes it is true that happy patients no longer care and do not post. However since I have been in your position I believe it is the right thing to do.
I am still swollen but so far all seems to be good. I have skype conversations with Dr. Shah every week so that he can watch the progress. Hopefully thing will continue this way. I will keep you all aprised since I feel a sense of duty and I only wish others had done this.

Thanks for posting Helly. I to am looking to have my 3rd surgery with him.it is not reconstruction but a touch up, but regardless I am very nervous. he seems nice but the office seem very unorganized. The one hour waits get u nervous but then when u actually get to speak to him it calms u down a bit. I am hoping he is one of those rising stars that can do great work, and not a snake like many of the other so called "Rhinoplasty Specialist". Happy healing!
Yeah I had to wait an hour as well for my visit yesterday. I think the problem is that he spends too much time on each patient, thus causing the long waits. By the time 3 or 4 o'clock rolls by, all of the extra time he spends with each patient really accumulates. About the anesthesia thing, I haven't heard of it, but even it it were true, shouldn't the anesthesiologist be held liable for that and not Dr. Shah?
Not sure if this is helpful or not. But after reading that some rhinos (with i.e. Shah and Le) are taking 5+ hours makes me think, I'd rather have S & L do my revision and take half the time w two of them - plus they are great. I was quoted 4-5 hours by Frankel, and I got by w 2.25 hours with S & L. I had a reconstruction with grafting/lengthening to do.
I asked S & L what happens if they disagree during the procedure. They advised that it's best for the patient as they push each other to perform further and better for the good of the patient.
I'm still very new, but still very happy with my S & L results. Their bedside manner is second to none; and so I hope these two never get fat heads in this regard. I don't think they will BTW.
Anyway I am about a month out and offering a picture of the base before and after of my S & L revision. If you are interested in seeing it, please contact me.
forestguy, would like to talk to you sometime. I'll pm you.
vwmumofone, i saw them before you put a pass. thanks though. the symmetry was very impressive and how invisible your scar looks. (I would like to see again if you put up more views.) my issue with S&L is mostly how inexperienced they are, but have not ruled them completely out. I could be completely off, but I estimate they have done at absolute max 600 noses in their mere 3 years in practice (3 years since they passed their boards for reconstructive/facial plastics).
Not like Shah is that much more experienced but still almost twice of what S&L are (about 5 years and ~1k noses). Another thing that worries me is that thread a few posts down from this one about Toriumi lawsuits. Toriumi taught Shah... Perhaps some of the techniques that lead to Toriumi's terrible results ended up in Shah's bag of tricks? I don't mean to be down on him. I really want him to be the one, but he has to pass my gauntlet of doubt and devils advocacy first.
Hmmmm. I had the opposite experience with S & L. They finished with my surgery in 2 hours and I wish they spent more time. I am left with palpable grafts, a saddle deformity, and collapsed mid-vault. Who cares if the surgery with Shah takes 10 hours? Doesn't that show that the surgeon cares and is meticulous? Do you want someone that is quick because they are running a mill? I cannot wait to have Shah revise my quick revision from S & L.
I have had revision but not with dr shah but with another surgeon that had great website and positive reviews- because negative ones were filtered. My words of advice... Do not fall for the hype of any dr. If it seems too good to be true it probably is. The only way to know how a dr really will perform is look at a bunch of past patients unsolicited. If the dr refers you he is giving prime cases. These review boards are perfect. You get real answers . No surgeon no matter how renowned has 100 percent success rate so nothing is certin but talk to real patients before deciding either way. Word of mouth is the best advertising.
I wasn't going to post yet as I am only 3 weeks post op and I am more active on the UK forum LYB. I saw this and had to.
I just had primary with Dr Anil Shah and I couldn't be happier. From his manner to his skill. The man is a truly skilled surgeon and I am so happy I went with him. I did a lot of research, and traveled from the UK to consult with him and three others. I did not think he would be my first choice due to his young age, great prices and the fact he's on that list. However, I by passed all that and and went with my gut. You can't discriminate against the guy because he is so talented and young lol
I couldn't recommend him enough. I will do a full write up soon, but if you want further info on my journey you can look on LYB UK for nosey2012
Thank you for sharing, Nosey. I just looked at your story on the LYB site and loved all the detail that you shared! I'm happy to hear that you're pleased with your results so far and now I'm dying to see your pictures! I hope you share some
I'm also a happy Shah patient, although I haven't been so lucky in the swelling department. I've still got a lot of it, but I'm happy with my outcome so far regardless... I'm just trying to wait patiently for time to work its magic!
I had a revision from Dr. Anil shah on May 30th this year and I am not very satisfied, I don't think he is an experienced doctor for revision, you can see my review on his surgery on www.realself.com
