How long did you sleep elevated after surgery?

How long did you sleep elevated after surgery?

Postby KMont484 » Fri Mar 04, 2011 5:29 am

I asked my doctor how long I need to sleep elevated and his response was "as long as you can". But after 1 month, I physically couldnt do it anymore because of the back pain. What about all of you?

Im on day 3 and it sucks!! How long did you wear your drip pad for? Im not "leaking" so i dont have it on anymore. Black eyes are still there but looks like the worst of it has already passed. Your 1 month post op?

I am exactly 5 weeks post op today.

I had my surgery on a Friday and wore the drip pad for about 3 and 1/2 days. My doc removed the packing that Monday afternoon and told me I wouldn't need it anymore. My nose still dripped but not like it was the days before. I carried tissues around the house with me for the next week or so.

Thanks for the info. I know im still very swollen, but i see a lot of difference in my tip. So far so good. Now i just hope my bridge is now straight when they take off the splint. Were you able to tell that your hump was removed before the splint was removed? Maybe i am over analyzing myself. hehe. I am taking off my splint on tuesday and im guessing the packing also. I have little airflow through the nostrils. Cmon Tuesday!!

I kind of avoided the mirror for the first week because I was soooooo swollen and bruised and couldn't stand to see it, but my parents said they could tell that there was no bump even though I had the cast on. I still have very slight bruising under my right eye. And I can also tell there is still swelling in the tip more than anywhere else.

I am off of work until next Thursday, so hopefully im presentable by than. How long were you in hiding? Did you get more swollen when the cast was removed? I read one can use taping to try and minimize the swelling. My parents also tell me they can tell the bump is gone, but i guess i want to see it myself. If the bump was still there the cast would most def not be as straight as it looks. perhaps im just paranoid. I cant believe i actually went through with this!! I hope i dont get any "you got a nose job" comments. You experience any of this? Do you have any updated pics?

I was out of work for a little over 2 weeks. I didn't really notice it swell back up once the cast was off.I mean my whole face was still swollena t that point so it kinda just looked like it went down once the cast was removed. Someof my coworkers knew I was getting it done and others didn't. The people who I didnt tell have not noticed a thing. I've seen my friends in the past 2 weekends and everyone said it look awesome. Again, I didn't tell ALL of them because I don't think people will really notice. But i guess I'll find out when i start to see the rest of them... My pics are in the "UPDATE: 5 Weeks Post Op" thread.
