How much is too much for a consultation?

How much is too much for a consultation?

Postby straightbridge » Tue May 30, 2017 1:08 pm

Hello all,
Is $300. too much for a consultation? Is this the going rate in NY City? When trying to decide between even 3 doctors, that's $900. if they all charge $300. Some don't charge anything. Does that mean they're not a good choice? I've heard of some good doctors who charge less than $100. Some consultations take less than 30 minutes and I've read that some take a couple of hours. I'm skeptical of the ones that take more than an hour. It seems to me that everything can be discussed in an hour or so. I'm asking because I'm considering making more consultations since I'm driving so far from home. I thought it would be a good idea to get other opinions. It could make it an expensive trip with the high fees and travel expenses. Any thoughts please.

What about a doctor that has a 2 month waiting list for a consultation. This doctor isn't talked about on this site and he charges $50 for a consultation. They said I have to put it on my credit card and if I cancel within 24 hours, they will give my card a credit. I can't believe I have to wait 2 months when I want a consultation next week. I've never heard of this before. He must be a very busy surgeon!!

I have had free and paid 650 for 4.5 hours. it all depends. I would narrow down the surgeons you want to see and take it from there. the wait list doesnt surprise me if they are good revisionists. Doctors have waiting list for almost 1 year.
