hmm, I`m confused Annette. I have one indent on the left side, but my bridge is going to the right. And I have a second dent on the same side (on my left nostril) and the tip is going in that direction (to the left). So the nose looks from the front looks like this shape:

Note that my left side would be the right side on the screen:

((

straight,
going to the right (bump on right side, dark dented area on left side),
tip going to the left (dent on left nostril and a dark strip on left tip where the nose is ``folding`` to the left).

The tip of my `triangùlar`dent is close to my bridge (based on your picture, your tip seems to be towards your cheek and the base of the triangle is close to your bridge):
l
l < (triangular area looking like dent mid-way on my nose)
l ° (circular dent on my nostril, plus dark strip across the left side where nose is bending to the left)

I also have an indent on my bridge but my surgeon said this is completely normal and very typical of rhinoplasty. It's where my bump was removed and although it can be felt, it can't really be seen.

It's so wierd that i came across this post cuz I just noticed today that there appears to be an indent at the top of my bridge that goes from right to left straight across...but i'm only one week post op and just got my cast off yesterday and the ps taped my nose up and told me not to remove it for 2 days so it might just be swelling or the way the tape is ( i hope!) sure feels like a dent tho

did all of us go to the same ps or something? our problems are way too similar. did anyone look into open roof deformity? im wondering if thats what i have. the flatness/indent and discoloration are the key factors .

dent at six months post

Postby sans0002 » Wed Jul 02, 2008 1:59 pm

hey guys i just actually joined this site so i could reply to this thread b/c ive been so concerned about this bruised looking dent that i have on my bridge at six months post my rhinoplasty still !!!!

I definitely have to get something redone to my nose b/c we had discussed narrowing my nose and getting rid of the bumped and straightening the bridge and what not but we never discussed tip work b/c my tip appear fine to me and the surgeon- cept i guess my tip was originally slightly pinched on one side and once the nose my narrowed it looks SOOOO pinched on the one side now .. but anyways ...
So everything is great except the skin on my nose is stilll soooo extra sensitive and what not and i got this reddish/purple looking dent that is pretty small - like i can feel it and sorta place the very tip of my pinky in the dent . It has been six months and i go back and see the surgeon again at the end of july and he said last time (at 3 months) that it should heal itself ???

message me if you want to see a pic cept the only pics i have though are from an arms distance away b/c it all gets blurry when i try to get real close up - but from that distance u can see the size and purpleness of it. And its really not 'deep' to be honest just a slight indentation but its the redness that bothers me and to be honest it sort of feels soft ... a bit like the soft spot on a babys head lol like if the bone never really healed??
any ideas?

thanks
matt

Hi there,
I have this dent too at the top of my bridge, like a line going across from left to right, and it's soft. However, it does seem to finally be going away and I'm 4 months post-op. I had an injection at 2 months to break up scar tissue because my surgeon said the scar tissue was pulling cartilage inward and creating an indention and an illusion of a bump. Since then my bump is almost completely gone and, like I said, the indention is not even noticeable anymore, though I can still feel it with my finger a little bit and it feels soft or squishy. I'm wondering though if that's just damaged nerves or something that hasn't healed yet. I also worried about open roof deformity, but I don't think so because I'm pretty happy with my nose lately and it certainly doesn't look like I have any type of deformity. Early on I certainly thought so!
