Part 2--The Perfect Rhinoplasty Tool (PICS!) Dr Menick

Re: Part 2--The Perfect Rhinoplasty Tool (PICS!) Dr Menick

I have reposted this here in order to avoid hijacking/derailing Olivias thread on Guyuron and Gruber. It would be okay for a moderator to delete those posts in that thread and I thank you.

bilki wrote:This isnt about liking you or not. I personally got a lot of information from you during my research for my rhinoplasty and i found you very knowledgable. However I had an excellent experience with Dr. Boahene, but iv come across someone on this forum who didnt.I will never think of persuading the person that he is awesome. People like you are here to guide us but the final decision has a lot to do with doctor - patient chemistry.
I hope you will continue to give the invaluable info you are known for.

Thankyou for stating that bilki.

Actual communication with a surgeon can take place in the form of an "email" and then followed by a face to face consult. As I said before---I have never spoke with Dr Menick on the phone. I hope whatever words/wisdom I have written on this forum will continue to enlighten people and help them properly prepare for surgery.

My main intent was to help people who were in similar situations as I with a botched nose. To that end--- I think Ive had some success with my thread on casting and the casting thread will hopefully be around long after I have left.

Ive had members here (wont mention names) turn cold on me after spending so much time advising and helping them but it did not sway me from continuing to help others because I always knew that its not about me----its about helping others attain their goals.

We have great people like sbsbsbsb that continue to stick around this forum after having very successful surgeries and she inspired me to follow in her footsteps since I am extremely happy with my result. Though my life outside this forum is beginning to demand much of my time.

For example, with my new found confidence--- I am now beginning a rigorous exercise program in order to regain the body I once had. I am also working on an artificial intelligence program for predicting forex/currency fluctuations.

Not everyone will understand anothers motives and thats fine because whats important here is one's own intent and only God knows what that is. I think Dr Menick is the best of the best and that opinion is based on my personal research and ultimately on my own personal result with him. Its only natural that I would try to steer people in his direction---to that end you could say I am biased but being biased should not automatically rule out the intent here:

To make everyone as happy as possible and have the same happiness that I had (even if not with the same surgeon)

I would like to add that there are, of course, other good surgeons out there. Constantian, Frankel, Guyuron, Gruber and Shah are the ones that seem to come to my mind at the moment. There are many people here that have a difficult journey ahead of them and their futures are filled with anxiety and uncertainty. That is very dark and frustrating but you must fight back by doing the homework and preparing properly. DONT REMAIN A VICTIM!

My heart goes out to them and even the ones that dont like me ( for whatever reason) I understand human nature all too well to be put off by that but I just saw this thread as a good cue/ opportunity to do what I was planning on doing anyway and that is to bid farewell to you all and wish only the very best outcome in your surgeries no matter who you ultimately choose for your surgery.

I may come back in the future and post pics maybe 6 months and 1 year out because I know how helpful that is to others but now--- I must go for now. Olivia, I apologize for derailing your thread and hope you find a surgeon you are comfortable with and speaks with you on the phone.

The important thing here is that all of you will hopefully be happy with your result and move on with your life and do all the things you never could do because the motivation was lacking. This is I plan to do now---move on with my life and enjoy the remaining years that I have on this earth as best as I can.

Peace.

Thanks Hippie, I've gained cool friends here like you and thank everyone for the support they gave me. I hope you stay in touch with me (I know you have my email address) if not just PM and I will send it to you. Its nothing personal really against anyone---I just think I need to priortize my time now that I have a new life to lead. I will check in every once in a while though.

Hi Guys,
For anyone thats been following my surgery with Menick---I am now officially just over 6 months out. I have a front shot, side and oblique dated 6/3/12. This is exactly as I envisioned my nose would look 6 months out so everything is according to plan and I am still very happy with the overall result. Its a dream come true.

Wow! It looks fantastic Acool!

Glad to see you back on here visiting us!
I have not been on much at all either, trying to get the funds together for my Menick revision!
I'll still need your help on deciding what to do with my nose once I get closer to my goal financially!

Hope all is well and congratulations again!

hey acool and everyone!

acool I've been following your story and can I just say that you are an inspiration. You seem like such a lovely warm person and I am so happy that you have the results that you wanted. You look fantastic! And your posts have really really helped me. I am just 5 months post botched primary and I am looking into revision. Menick is defnately my favourite after reading your experience.

In fact I am going to give this face casting a whirl as I feel miscommunication and picking the wrong surgeon!! Was a huge factor to my failed primary. I live in the uk and have just emailed a caster. But I am so scared that i will cast something thats not ideal. I have photos and a video of what I used to look like so I'm hoping that will help. Any tips would much be appreciated. Although you're probably not going to be online so much anymore as you're enjoying life with your new/old look :D

But if you get a chance would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks Guys! You know, I nearly got into a fist fight the other day with this real jerk and I then remembered that I cant really afford to take that kind of risk after all my journey and struggle. If he had touched my nose I think I would have completely lost my mind and who knows what I would have done then!lol

Every time I feel depressed about my botched nose (done by a famous surgeon in Saudi Arabia) I come and read your posts which makes me feel good and restore hope again that my nose will be normal and can move on with my life.
Thank god for the internet, MMH forum and you acool.
I strongly believe because of your best of intentions of helping people who are in need including me, you surgery went on perfectly.

Thanks brother Hanno, After much reflection and whatever life experience has taught me in this very short life, I do think that there is some mysterious balance of negative and positive energy in the our universe. It is constantly changing and adapting to our actions and even just our thoughts and intentions....some may call it karma (for lack of a better term) or some may say "God" and some may call it something else but the concept is still the same.

"A conscious universe" that is constantly evolving might be a better description and what I seem to prefer. All matter and even our thoughts are a form of energy and we are all tapped in to this greater collective consciousness to some degree or another. ( even if we dont quite realize it)

Having said that---when we share our thoughts and help others, it serves the greater good and we all benefit in the end....maybe not instantly but time, space and energy has its own little formula that we may nor be privy to or understand but it is there none the less and it works.

I hope you have the same success I had with your surgery.
There are so many surgeons to choose from but stayed focused on the goal, do your due diligence and the universe may decide to shine favorably in your direction. :)

Thanks PJ. I think the casting idea is as good as it gets just short of having surgery and then deciding that was not the look you were after-----after-all. Better to experiment with a casting and get it right there before proceeding to an actual surgery.

Picking the right surgeon who respects your casting idea and has the skills to pull it off surgically ( if surgically feasible) is the other battle. Do not be afraid to spend the extra money for flights and hotels to travel to the one you suspect is the right one for you. In the end you must remember that this your face we are talking about---in the grand scheme of life there are many things we could worry about and are of greater importance than our noses but if you are adamant about doing the nose then make the appropriate effort because if you dont then it could cost you more uneccessary pain and heartache. You must live with that nose and "face" people with that nose until you die. You can either live happy with your facial appearance or you can be miserable and endure a line of never ending surgerys, dwindling bank account and/or greater and greater debt. All the best to you--the very fact that you are here at MMH means you are already heading in the right direction and giving yourself the best chance of success.

I hope you see my question [-o<

How long after your primary surgery you did a revision rhino?

Because i noticed that the longer the period the chances for revision rhinoplasty to succeed?

best regards

Hanno

I see it! :)

I think the longer you wait the better. 1 year should be the minimum wait for the nose to settle but subtle changes continue for up to 2 or more years.
The revision to reconstruct my nose to a normal looking appearance was by Dr Constantian and it was about 2 years after my primary botch. The result was good but not optimal because I looked like someone else and felt a loss of identity. However-- I lived with that nose for 20 years before enough was enough. It was time to do something about it and take the risk/plunge. Dr Menick gave me back my nose/face and restored my nose/face very close to its original appearance. My long journey ended very happy.

Surgery was on Dec 1 2011. Pics were taken today while eating lunch at a Sidewalk Cafe in Brooklyn New York. Dr M is definitely "the man"! I also love Ojitos Verdes recent result! I think she came out totally gorgeous.

I am now about 11 months out so I created a new album for the occasion called "11 months out" and I figured since I already have an album called "11 days out" ....how fitting would it be to post them side by side here so that you could compare results through time.

11 days out:

11 months out:
https://picasaweb.google.com/1086385967 ... directlink

I continue to be extremely happy with my results but a part of me still feels very bad for all the brothers and sisters on MMH that are still struggling to escape their personal nose hell. It is my sincere wish that these pics help some people to realize that there is hope even when it seems as if all hope is gone.

Bear in mind that the smaller nose you see in the "11 days out" album is not me at my very worst but a normal version of me after Dr Constantian from Nashua New Hampshire gave me back my life. If I ever find that hideous primary botch pic, I will certainly post it so that you can see how far I have come after a total of 6 surgeries.

Dr Menick of Tucson Arizona did my last surgery and restored my nose/face to what it was before all the madness and I will never forget both surgeons for as long as I live. I am especially grateful to Dr Menick because he saw my vision and delivered it. Restoring my nose/face has restored my ability to engage in life itself because I feel like me once again.
