Dr. Thomas Le

Sorry

Postby covgirl33 » Sat Sep 19, 2009 2:40 am

Jluc,

I apologise. I see how what I said might have looked quite insensitive. That wasnt my intention atall. I didnt know you had paid a deposit I thought you had just made a booking. We've pm'ed each other Im suprised youd think I would be intentionally hurtful

Let me make it clear, I wasnt saying hes a mediocre surgeon I was just saying that the pics on his website didnt jump out at me. You always base a surgeons potential skills on his before and afters cos thats the only thing you have to go by and you always remember the "good" ones.

Improved, what do you mean "real sweet characters"? And Jluc you hate these boards cos there supposed to be support groups but are really just a joke? Would you rather I just said I loved the results even if that wasnt my opinion? Surely being honest is the best form of support, especially in this kind of field, no?

I recently showed a friend a surgeons results who I personally think are great, she wasnt impressed though. Thats her opinion, I have mine. I cant be mad at her for being honest with me...

Boxter76, how long after your consult did he email you the quote? To others who have consulted w/ him, how long did it take to get your quote?

Hi!
I had a very complicated 7 hours revision with Dr.Le on June, 2008.
He quoted me $7000.
So far I'm more than satisfied with the result.
I had inverted V nose, nasal valve collapse , hump and broken tip.
Dr.Le fixed all these problems.

On r4u.com my login was Feanor, but this site says that " Feanor" was taken by somebody.

I received my quote from him during the consult which took place in March 2009. At the time I was just 3 months post op from a primary done by another doctor. He purports that he's a regional mentor for rhinoplasty surgions. The most comforting part of his consult was his comment that he will take as many hours as it takes to straighten the septum and then build the nose appropriately. Many other surgeons told me no more than 2 hours would be necessary. However, I did have a similar experience as one member who responded on this board where he was apprehensive to get into the details of his operative technique for my particular case, which was concerning since it is a revision for me and revision patients tend to be extremely detail oriented - sometimes to a fault.

If I owned a baseball team, I'd keep him on my minor league roster but bring him into the majors if price was my main concern. His revision cost (including rib/auricular cartilage harvesting) was <$10k.

I noticed that most people who give Dr. Le 5 stars have only one review and they are no where to be found again. I have emailed some of them, but I never heard from them. I am considering a revision with him, but it is hard to believe that he does not have any unhappy patient.

Kako, that is because many people decide to move on with their lives after their operation. I do agree most should at least post a few pics but it's their choice. I've spoke to at least a dozen revision patients and saw several photos of his incredible work.

I will be having my revision in December with Dr. Le and will post my experience and include photos in January.

Am I the only one who has really had a bad experience with this guy. I didn't get surgery with him, or any yet at all, so I really can't comment on his surgical skills. However, I found his bedside manner to be less than desirable. First off, he was an hour or so late for the appointment. I was in Baltimore to watch the red sox play around the time I was going for a consult and he asked me what a person from Rhode Island is doing as a sox fan! Anyone who is not sure, RI is that tiny little state in New England and the Sox are the only major league team in all six states of the region! okay okay, I'll get to the real issues...

He produced morphs for a prospective new nose for me. I just didn't like how the new nose looked.. it was too cookie cutter. He kept trying to patronize me by telling me that the morphed nose is still really strong and ranked very high in some survey of random people. After humoring me a little, he created one with some hump that I liked a little more, to only then just remind me that I would be wasting my money as I wouldn't be getting "perfection".

He then morphed one that was modeled off of Gerard Butlers nose. He tried to sell me on this by mentioning that with Gerard's type of nose, I would in fact look a lot like him and really be amazed at the type of women that I attract. This was offensive to me on so many levels. I already mentioned to him that I had a girlfriend... what makes him think that I'm not satisfied with her and that I want something better. I just wanted to scream IM NOT DOING THIS FOR ANYONE ELSES APPROVAL!

This was all a year and a half ago, when he was with the university of baltimore. He was supposed to finish the morphs from the 2 noses that we experimented with, but never got back to me, even after I contacted him a few times. Oh, and how could I forget his wonderful explanation on why surgery tends to take so long. His answer.... If god took so long to make your nose, how do you expect me to fix it so quickly?

Sorry to hear about your consultation experience tke. I have had a few consults with him previously. He loves speaking in analogies! Now, from what I researched and the people I spoke through (throughout a 2 year time-frame), he is a legit and HIGHLY regarded doctor. I don't know many doctors who are doing 8-10 hour revisions... 2,3,4 hours max. is usually the time surgeons take. Of course, operating longer does NOT guarantee a better result but it DOES show commitment in the doctor's part AND you can know that there will be no time rush! I also know for a fact that he does only 1 operation per day, which can really put many people at ease. His before and after photos speak for themselves.

My surgery is all ready and booked and I will be posting a review as well as before/after photos so keep in touch!
