When is your surgery scheduled? I would love to offer you some recommendations for the scars from a TT.
I would first recommend a scar cream. We have two that are awesome--they do what they are SUPPOSED to do!
1)Kelo-coteScar Healing & Reduction Gel MMH ID: 10066:http://bit.ly/c7VUAx This is a great all silicone version of a scar treatment gel. It helps to flatten, soften, smooth, and reduce all types of scars. With Kelocote, the scar and surrounding skin surrounding become smoothed out. Kelo-cote also helps reduce the color of the scar and eliminate the red or pink tinge they can develop.
2) Scar Esthetique Healing & Reduction Cream (w/Silicone, Arnica, Antioxidants, Copper Peptides, Co-Q10 MMH ID: 15690:http://bit.ly/ccINvo This is an office favorite and best seller! This silicone based cream has added ingredients in it to help speed up the healing of scar tissues. It has Arnica to help with bruising and swelling, antioxidants and vitamins to promote proper healing and collagen formation. Scar Esthetique helps reduce the appearance, size, height, thickness, and color of scars for all skin types and color.
You should also definitely look into some silicone sheeting. Silicone sheeting helps to flatten the scar out by giving the scar tissue constant pressure. It does require you to wear the sheeting for about 12 hours a day. ( we recommend using the cream in AM and then switch to sheeting when you are home for PM hours). I love to recommend the Scar FX brand because it lasts so much longer than other brands out there. Alot of the brands are still good, but with scar fx lasting so long, I MUST mention it. AS a note, it is recommended to use silicone sheeting for about 8-12 weeks.
1) Scar Fx Silicone Scar Sheet - 1" x 22" (w/Self Adhering )MMH ID: 22590;http://bit.ly/dC9SKI The scar fx brand of sheeting lasts for 3 months as opposed to three weeks with other brands. This clear sticky sheeting is work over the TT scar.
Will the sheeting eventually get less sticky? Yes. Will it get dirty? Yes probobly, with both body oils or sweat but thats what the tape and washing solution are for! Things like tape and washing solutions can help to prolong the use of your sheeting so that you can use it for the full three months. They usually can be purchased with right with the sheeting, but just in case here is a link for the tape + washing solution:
