Anyone travel out of country and had plastic surgery goodI am going to have plastic surgery. I am thinking about Costo Reco. Please share good and bad experiences.

Hi Brandi.
I'm not sure whether you know: there is another forum devoted exclusively to plastic surgery outside the country: www.plasticsurgeryjourneys.com They are wonderful over there. I was originally planning to have my surgery in Mexico, but I changed my mind when I learned some not-so-great things about the doctor. They have specific country forums, including Costa Rica, so you'll be able to hear from people who have been there, with good and bad results. Best of luck! Henrik
I've had quite a bit of dental and cosmetic surgery done in Costa Rica, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. The plasticsurgeryjourneys.com website is good, and my own PSs website is www.terminallyvain.com - Dr. Lev, he's done some beautiful lipo and a face lift for me.
Good luck - what are you thinking of having done? D'Arcy
I would like to get a tummy tuck and BL. I am very scared to go out of country, but my dh says I have to remember on the net you more inlikely only gong to hear about the bad cases. Trying to be open-minded at the same time of being cautious.

I am here in Costa Rica for my 2 nd procedure. I go in tomorrow for my tt and lipo. I'd be happy to answer any of your questions. Not only are the costs less, my ps is excellent. If you contact Carolina at the website below, she will take care of you. She makes all the arrangements for you.

I had a facelift and neck lift in Bangkok. I know it was pretty far to travel, but the area I live in does not have a lot of experienced plastic surgeons (ones who perform cosmetic work day in and day out). I'm glad it's over and glad I did it. I especally liked the fact that I was in a hospital for 2 days after surgery.
It's been 9 months since my surgery and I don't even remember the old me. I haven't had any complications except for the usual stuff. I felt very confident with my doctor and will go back if and when I need another procedure.
I had my TT and BR done in Tijuana, Mexico by Dr. Suarez. I'm sooo happy with him, his staff, and the work he did for me!! You can go here to get all the info - www.yourmakeovers.com. I'm going back to get a thigh lift and arm lift, too.
I had lipo and a tummy tuck with Dr. Julian Morales in Bogota Colombia. Dr. Morales and his staff were excellent and I am very pleased with my results.
Dr. Morales charged me $4500 for both surgeries. This price included all of the surgery related costs, anesthesia, 10 post op therapies and the post op garments. As far as lodging, Dr. Morales offers a package of lodging, 3 meals per day, transportation and a nurse for $90 per day. I was picked up at the airport went to have my blood work done and then I was taken to the apartment I reserved through Dr. Morales Clinic. The next day i was pick up at 6:30 AM and was taken to the Clinic to have my pre op preparations (which included being photographed, marked for the surgery, bathed in an antibaterial solution, painted with betadine, IV put in and sedated before and epidural was administered). Dr. Morales was there with the anesthesiologist to explain all of the pre op prep and to answer any questions I might have. The name of the clinic is Medical Spa. Dr. Morales email is jmmedicalspa@yahoo.com, and his website is www.mdmedicalspa.com Also here is the link to my pictures. Best of luck, Chiki http://www.makemeheal.com/pictures/view ... lbumid=721
Hi
I can understand how you feel about maybe being a bit nervous about going abroad for plastic surgery, I felt the same way. But I did finally do it and was never happier that I chose Buenos Aires. I had a full tummy tUCk with mr/ face lift and arm lift by Dr Mario Lodolo. The whole thing including 24 nights in a 4 star hotel all surgical fees and two seperate surgeries with one night in the clinic for each surgery was $7400.00 but I used Plenitas which of course was more expensive than going direct to the doctor. For my next round of PS I will go direct to Dr Lodolo(I would not dream of ever letting another plastic surgeon near me) He did such an awsome job.(in my humble opinion) He even makes house calls, the only time I needed to go to his office was for stitches to be removed, all my post op visits were made by the doctor to my hotel..AMAZING!!! Once I was home in the US I had some concerns (actually questions) about my swelling I emailed him and he responded within 24 hours and even called me at home(in the US) to make sure I was ok...When a doctor shows that kind of compassion it always stuns me because we see little of it here(at least I have never been fortunate enough to find a doctor here that cares that much) I did post pictures in the gallery here if anyone is interested.... hugs chrissiek Tummy Tuck w/MR, Arm lift, Face lift

I would definitely check out several opinions, some doctors are great with one patient, then you find out that someone else almost died with the same surgeon. Check out the above mentioned website PS Journeys to thoroughly investigate foreign surgeons!

Hi clam...
I didn't mean anything by that post please forgive me if it sounded as if I did...There are many fine surgeons in Buenos Aires as well as other countries. I know the incident you are referring to from the woman on PSJ board and please don't believe everything you read, there is way more to that story than is being told there. I know many very pleased patients of this doctor....You know the old saying..three sides to every story..his..hers and the truth.. I too was surprised that no one on PSJ had heard of the doctor you mentioned since so many flight attendants had gone to him and PSJ is mostly for surgery outside the US....best of luck chrissiek Tummy Tuck w/MR, Arm lift, Face lift

Plastic surgery journeys is a great site to reasearch plastic surgery abroad. I belong to it and enjoy contributing my expirience. If you are thinking of getting surgery outside the US, this is one source that is filled with patient to patient input and info.
The link is www.plasticsurgeryjourneys.com Happy reaserching to all, Chiki
what about post op,,followup,,,stitch removal, etcSounds great in theory. But, beings the Devil's advocate,,,,what about post op care,,,,stitch removal, etc??
Hi babyboomer,
Hey there is nothing wrong with playing devils advocate He also provides a visiting nurse that of course speaks English as he does. He removed my stitches before I left, I was there for a long time (24 nights) because I had multiple procedures done...but I do know alot of people arrange with their pcp at home to have stitches removed when they get home...truly...I could not have ordered better after care...I would not hesitate(in fact I am going ) to go again to Buenos Aires alone. Dr Lodolo also arranges for someone to pick you up at the airport(who speaks english as do most people there_) and they are also available to take you to the clinic for appointments and help you any way they can to make your stay easier....Not a bad deal at all... Hope that answers some of your concerns hugs chrissiek Tummy Tuck w/MR, Arm lift, Face lift
