Do Kenalog Injections ALWAYS Help/decrease Swelling?

Postby brown123 » Wed Dec 01, 2010 1:19 am

I had rhinoplasty 3 months ago & my nose is very swollen. I think the surgeron did a great job because I LOVED my nose when the splint came off. But my nose just continue to swell. Now, my nose looks very similar to my old nose. My doc recommended Kenalog injections for the swelling. I had one done about a week & half ago but doesn't seem to notice a difference. Do you think if I continue to get the injections my nose will get smaller? My doc told me in some cases the swelling never goes down.I mean even if i do get steriod injections is it possible that my nose might still remain swollen?
I have thick skin btw.

Patients with thick skin often have your problem. Its not just swelling but swelling and scar tissue. Kenalog repeated several times is the only answer as well as time. You often have to do injections every month or every other month for 1-2 years. It just depends. I cant tell you what to do without seeing you but see your doctor frequently to make sure you both stay ahead of the scar tissue and swelling with proper injections.
