Over the last several years I have had the pleasure of answering hundreds of questions on the main chat/blog pages of this site. I have also received and replied to hundreds of your private messages and emails.
I will gladly still continue to address questions on the main public section but I am NOT going to answer any more private questions or emails.
My office hours are from 8:30 am till 6pm and I work practically every Saturday as well. I am at the O.R. 3 days a week during most weeks. Despite this hectic schedule, I enjoy reading your questions and replying as best as I can and I try to make time between seeing patients and at the end of the night when I go home for replying to patient emails and questions. I try to answer any posted question within 24 hours.
However, a very small handful of "patients" have rudely crossed the line and taken serious tasteless advantage of this frank availability. Because of these recent events, I am forced to limit my responses in private messages and emails.
"The straw that broke the proverbial camel's back" was a recent email sent to me from a user of this site. This young Arab man had taken a hot iron to his face to improve acnescars - ending up with burned skin! His next plan was to personally cut out these large areas of burned skin and suture it himself and he wanted my approval for his self-mutilating actions. I frantically asked him to STOP with the self-therapy and see a professional surgeon or dermatologist for help. My genuine concern for this young Iraqi male's health and well being was rewarded by a long threatening and extremely rude email sent from his uncle who was more concerened about his nephew's "feelings" than his mental and physical health and well-being.
This is just one such recent example but I just wanted to give an explanation for my decision to the many many loyal and gratefull readers of this site.
DOC I am almost 4 month touch up (revision) post up, why do my eyes feel and look like they sunk? DId I lose fat from around my eyes? why are both bottom and top lids thin and wrinkly? Crying or Very sad My eye balls move in and out to if i slightly push them...will I go blind? Well they fall back more? Are there any fillers to bring back my eyes look? PLS how did this happen in a 20 min touch up? Yes bones were broken but pls DOC I am really scared I look 37 now, and I am only 27....
You need to see your plastic surgeon or another surgeon if you are that scared or concerned. I have no idea what was done surgically and I have not seen you or even your pictures.
I assume you had a Rhinoplasty. If so then nothing should be different about your eyes. If you had eyelid surgery then thats a whole different story. DO NOT do any filler injections until you know what the problem is. See your doctor and get a full evaluation before you mess with your eyes and inject fillers as that can create a whole new set of problems if you have a tendency towards anxiety post procedure.
Hi dr. Nederi, yes I had a "touch up" revisionrhinoplasty, bones were broken "again" to bring down the bumps that were on the sides of my bridge from my "primary" septo/rhinolasty....
After this my eyes became hallow, gaunt and I feel they are far back in, and others notice this, I tried to contact my DOC but he hasn't replied to me ...
Thanxx for your help though, so you are saying this problem should not occur? and I can wait the year and see?
Thanks for the explanation. Yes definitely see your doctor but probably what you are noticing is the "illusion" of deeper eyes. As the bones were broken and narrowed, the shape and contour in that area probably changed but ther should be no changes to the volume of the eyes or the skin. Still see your doctor and see what he says.
Firstly, please accept my apologies for contacting you via the forum but I am desperately searching for Cosmetic Surgerons to answer some questions. My name is Jo-Ann Campbell and I am currently studying for my PhD at Staffordshire University, U.K. At present I am conducting research focusing on women’s pre and post operative motivations/experiences for cosmetic surgery. To complement this research and take a more in-depth view I am currently seeking cosmetic surgeons to participate in the study and offer their own points of view.
The study is qualitative and it will require you to complete a series of open ended questionnaires in detail. If there are any questions you feel uncomfortable answering you can leave them blank, I can assure you that all your replies/answers to any questions will be anonymous and that you only need to give your first name, this will be replaced with an identifier code to ensure anonymity. However, it should be noted that some extracts from your reply maybe used in reports in order to exemplify your viewpoint.
Please also note that if you agree to participate it does not mean that you have to complete the study. You can withdraw from the study at anytime without providing an explanation. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to email me at j.h.Campbell@staffs.ac.uk
If you feel you are able to volunteer your time, it would be much appreciated. Could you please indicate that you are willing to do so by completing the attached consent form and forwarding it back to me directly on the above email.
I had buccal fat removal performed a week ago under a general anaesthetic and ever since, my right eye has not been the same. It looks much smaller than my left and the most noticeable thing is that I can see much more eyelid on this side.
The night after surgery I had lots of twitching and watering and the eye was bloodshot. I was told at the eye hospital the day after that I had a scratch on my eye and I thought this was the reason for the eye 'closing up', however when I went back yesterday they told me the scratch had healed, and did not take me very seriously when I pointed out the assymetry in my eyes, but I am certain of it and I can see from observing photos of myself that I look very odd. My eyes definitely didn't look like that pre-surgery.
I know that buccal fat removal is not supposed to affect the eyes so I am feeling extremely frustrated with this problem which seems to have no explanation or answer despite all my searching. I wonder if you could think why this might be, Dr Naderi. I would really, really appreciate your advice because this problem has been frustrating and upsetting me to the point where I am losing sleep and giving myself migraines.
