Does anyone know about this regimen? It seems just like Obagi....I have no idea of the pricing, as it seems to come only from M.D.s offices at this point. (I looked all over, and couldn't find pricing anywhere! They tell you to call on their website.)
I am new to this forum, having searched for information about Obagi and Dermesse.
I am currently using the Dermesse regimen, which is nearly identical to Obagi except for two things: 1. it seems to be better tolerated (i.e. while I am peeling and flaking, there is minimal irritation); and 2. price (the entire 6-step Dermesse regimen costs about $150 less than the 6-step Obagi regimen). Also, Dermesse products are ONLY available from a doctor; and those who use the regimen must be monitored by their doctor (i.e. check-ups at the 6-week, 12-week and 18-week points)
I will complete my 18-week program on May 15, 2006, and I am quite pleased with the results thus far - from what I have read on this forum from Obagi users, my results with Dermesse are comparable (smooth, clear, even complexion, significant improvement in sun damage, etc.,.). I would definitely recommend the Dermesse regimen to anyone who is looking to improve their complexion without surgery, or more abrasive/invasive procedures.
As an aside, I'm not a smoker, but I do (did) have quite a LOT of sun damage (freckles, melasma), and I am (was) prone to breakouts that would leave spots of hyperpigmented skin.
Another note, the Bare Minerals line of cosmetics is perfect while using these types of skin care regimens -as also noted earlier by SexiBeach.
My question is about maintenance. My ultimate goal is to have a smooth, clear, even-toned complexion so that I can either go without makeup, or use only the Bare Minerals. Now that I'm nearing the end of my program, and long-term use of hydroquinone is contra-indicated for continued lightening, I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a regular maintenance treatment (dermabrasion? peels?) that I can use in conjuction with my Dermesse maintenance plan (which will be similar to the Obagi maintenance plan).
I've heard really great things about Dermesse. My friend in CA has been using it and loves it! I'm assuming you are in FL, which DR did you go to for your Dermesse? Thanks!
My plastic surgeon at the Plastric Surgery Institute in Colorado Springs said three guys left Obagi and started the Dermesse Skin Care System. Obagi sued but lost. My plastic surgeon carried both lines for quite a while but finally got rid of Obagi it because the results were the same and he swears the products are almost identical... only Dermsesse is 30% cheaper. I didn't believe him so I went to another plastic surgeon for Obagi and he was dead bang on... I went back for the Dermesse. I start AFTER my business trip because theRetin A causes skin redness and dryness for anywhere up to 4-6 weeks. My girlfriend didn't have it that long or bad at all but I want to be safe... and wait. The skin lightner and Retin-A are the two magic (and prescription) steps in the system... You have to keep it up and use 35 SPF forever or you will risk your freckles or age spots returning... I will be taking numerous photos EVERYDAY for the first 8weeks...once I start so I can post the results for everyone to see and critique. I will give it a full year before I decide to keep it up or not.
Hi Cosnowfox, I have never heard of this new cream. Appreciate if you post your progress as you go along. I have always wanted to try Obagi, but my skin is not really too bad. I am going for my first IPL on Monday! I may be interested in trying the Dermesse. The price is right! Thanks Snow
I started Dermesse last Tuesday (May 24th) night. It is now Saturday (May 28th)afternoon. I have had NO peeling or redness. My face is breaking out... little blemishes... like everything is coming to the surface.
Keep in mind... I went from combo skin to really oily skin about a year ago... it's because of a health condition I have... as a result , the Doctor said that because of this I would probably not have all the peeling and redness... He was right. Soooo. I used a bit more of the Retin-A last night in hopes things would start moving along.... I have tenderness in the "crease" on the bottom outside area of my nose... That's about it. I haven't taken pics... Not much to see yet:) Maybe later with the increase in Retin-A. I need to dig the camera out.
I just read the articles on Dermesse, the Obagi like product. I switched to Dermesse mid last year and I am very pleased. The company seems to be doing well. In addition to the Obagi like regimen, they also carry tretinoin. I recently tried some of the new Dermesse products. They have Optimize Eye Cream for dark circles (my problem) and bags, and a neat sugar scrub as a light exfoliator. I use it to shave my legs. Anyway, thanks to all that commented. It caused me to research Dermesse and it worked out for me.
