About 3 months ago - early October - I was touching the tip of my nose and the next day developed a huge zit. It started out really sore and I knew i was in for a doozy.. Sure enough it formed into a huge red zit. I didn't want to mess with it cuz I new it would become even more troublesome.. Well, at one point - about two weeks later- it actually turned to a head and I gently popped it.. I didnt get to aggressive with it.. maybe I should have - to get it all out..
Anyway, it finally went down about a month later November but left a red spot. I've had these before back when I was much younger so I figured it would take some time but eventually go away.. Not this time. The tip of my nose has been red for months.
I went to a dermatologist around December 10th and she said it's possible I have rosacea in that one spot. I find that hard to believe since I know it came from a pimple originally - but who knows.. She prescribed this cream called Topisulf and a low level antibiotic specifically for rosacea - cant remember the name.. The antibiotics seemed extreme for one little spot plus I don't have insurance and didn't feel like paying close to $500 dollars for 30 days supply.. (how do the drug companies live with themselves with those prices?)
When I first started using the topisulf I noticed it brought out another pimple just above the origninal.. I think this was part of the problem. there was another deep one around the area as well - I was able to pop the newly formed whitehead above the orginal which was still red btw but painless..
So after about 3 weeks of using the topisulf nothing is happening.. there is nothing more to draw out and the redness is not fading in either spot on my nose.. And i'm about 95 percent positive there is nothing left underneath no cyst like stuff .. at least I hope not - it appears flat and definitely pain free..
I've been using arnica, vitamin k cream, the prescribed Topisulf but nothing. Now i'm on to lemon juice..
Does anybody have any insight or input to help me get rid of this thing? Should i just leave it alone and not put anything on it?
I'm trying to take this in stride, but I'm really getting tired of this new front and center "friend"
Thanks for listening, If anything feels good to share my pain - If it was any where else on my face I wouldn't even care, but on the tip of my nose? Jeez..
Some good solid advice would be so much appreciated
Me too... and yeah, it's taken forever, i've tried any number of ointments etc, and they've all done essentially nothing. The most effective thing i've found so far is a natural cream - WELEDA, & i use their Calendula Ointment - "For rashes and minor skin irritations". I put a tiny bit on several times a day. It hasn't completely healed it completely, but the redness as gone down substantially. It should be available in a lot of natural foods etc stores for about $10 for a small tube. I've also had some success with a natural anti-scarring salve - which can reduce the redness.
FYI - The WELEDA cream - if you do find it, DON'T use their "Wound Care" ointment for this - - - except possibly in miniscule doses once every week or two - i've found it's way too intense and causes some puffiness.
I think if it's a big/deep zit, then it's gone so deeply into the tissue that it's continually trying to heal, but it can't manage to.
