Is anyone here actually happy about their tl?

My plastic surgeon told me I was not a candidate to have the thigh lift. He told me that I would have a scar down my inside leg to my knee. He would have to pull and stitch under my butt. He told me that I would not be able to sit at all for weeks. My inside thigh is where the lose skin is located.

He would do it if I insisted, but he made me feel like he did not know enough to do it.

Anyone have it done and had a good experience with a doctor in Texas?

To relate to a question about garment, I wore mine in FloridA and it didn't bother me at all. I liked it very much actually. I wore it to gym and when I went out, no problem, it's like an underwear, very thin, but firm. I had mine made for me. I called, gave them my measurement and they knew what to do.
I wish it was the biggest discomfort of my liposuction, really.

Hi Yogapova, it sounds like you are getting ready to do this! :D When is your date? Did your doctor tell you how long the ps should take? Please keep us posted.

SMK, yes - I had my thigh lift done by Dr. Smart in Dallas. I have the incision down towards my knee (but not all the way).

His consults are free. If you want to know more, please feel free to PM me.

He would do it if I insisted, but he made me feel like he did not know enough to do it.
That sounds like the first doc I went to. His initials aren't RF are they - lol? He told me if I begged him he would do it. To me that's ridiculous.

I had mine scheduled on January,9 but want to reschedule for December, 27. I had all pc's in December, may be its a good month for me?Plus, i want to it to be over with, i never waited that long after i made my desicion for this actually to happen. I wish i had more feedback here on results though. Doesnt look like this surgery is very popular among women.

I think it's pretty common among massive weight loss ladies, but PS in general as not as common for that group as say the large group of women that have tummy tucks for various reasons. So, I think the pool is much smaller and not many women find MMH or if they do, I bet a lot lurk.

I am so happy with my legs. I'll never be a VS model, but they are so much better than they were before!

You not being a "candidate" for a MTL and him not being competent to perform a MTL are two very different things. It's not uncommon at all IME for PS to be hesitant to perform MTL. Many simply don't do them at all. The post-op complication rate is pretty high, especially compared to other procedures. Scarring is a much more visible issue. MTL aren't really all that common anyway, so it's also a matter of numbers, in that it's difficult for any one PS to do a whole lot of them if they aren't being done all that often to begin with, kwim?

Now, all that said, what he told you about incisions is correct. If you have saggy skin that goes down your inner thigh, a groin incision only is NOT going to "fix" the issue. Your incisions will follow along your panty line on either side (mine are from a couple of inches below my pubic bone to as far back under my butt as he could cut with me in the "frog leg" position on the OR table... so pretty far back under my butt). The incisions along my inner thighs go to about where a typical mini-skirt would end. I didn't have lots of saggy skin between there and my knees, otherwise he had my full permission to cut as far down as he thought necessary. I trust his judgement.

I could not sit in any type of chair in an upright position for 14 days. Upright was ok. Lying down was ok. Getting up and down was rather tricky for the first couple of weeks. It was best to do it in one fluid movement, and definitely no "sitting on the side of the bed to catch my breath and then stand up" type thing that I did after my c-sections/tummy tuck.

Once I *could* sit in a chair, it was for short amounts of time. At about 6 weeks out, I went to church (1 hr sitting) and then a movie (2 hrs sitting), and came home to down 2 pain pills and a valium.

I had surgery August 1st, so I'm now almost 3 months post-op. There's nothing I can't do now that I could do before surgery. Incisions are already flat and the groin incisions are starting to lighten up considerably.

I'd have it done again in a heartbeat. It was definitely a very, very different recovery process than my ETT/MR, but worth it for the improved appearance of my inner thighs. They were disgusting before and are already so much better even with residual swelling and scars that will take months to lighten up.

I had mine done in San Antonio, and I would recommend mine and one other here in town without hesitation. I'm sure every major city in TX has at least one or two PS that have done enough MTL to be comfortable doing them (various things I've read say anywhere from 10-20 over the course of their career is considered "experienced"). My surgeon did tell me it's the most difficult procedure for HIM to do, and it's the most difficult for ME to recover from, and it has the highest risk of post-op complications. He doesn't sugar-coat anything, but that's one of the many reasons I trust him.

NIGHTOWL..thank you for your detailed response. I am having TL in March. My dr also said that tl are not very common but she has doen many and confident about her abilities. I would like to ask you more about sitting and getting out of bed and recovery. I am going out of town for mine and will be at recovery facility for 3 weeks. They have hospital beds there and easy chair (leather with sides). My doctor likes to do hidden scars so she prefers groin incision and only will do a inside leg scar if there is no other way out. Please tell me tricks you used to get out of bed. I read here a long band helps to put around ancles to swing your both legs out. I am also planning to go back to work after 4 weeks, I am on my feet at work. Do you think more time is required?

Three cheers for our Texas doctors. Love my Dallas PS. :)

Sounds like you had a great experience. And thank you for sharing such an informative post!

Free, my vertical thigh scars are better looking than my TT. They are barely noticeable and when they are white, you won't know they are there. I wouldn't let the scars be a deterrent if you think the groin incision may not be enough. It will only do so much for the thigh skin as Nightowl pointed out.

i m going to preop tomorrow. I cant stand the wait anylonger. I want to have it done in 2 weeks. But i thought i would be more functional after 2 weeks. Not being able to sit for weeks? Ouch!!
I remeber after my lipo i couldnt sit normaly for a week, and then still was very caucious for another couple of weeks, because bruises gave me pain. I guess i should expect after TL a much longer recovery.
We have a house quest coming in 3 weeks after my surgery. he is my husband childhood friend from his home country. My husband doenst want him to know about my PS. If im still not able to sit i need to come up with something. I really dont want him in a house that much with me being recovering. I need my husbands attention and dont want to stay home alone during this process, but i guess he ll need to take him somewhere to entertain.
I cant believe i ll need to be in a house for such a long time with this surgery, im also having TT.
Also question for you girls, i do have hanging sking on inside of my thighs, but also in front with celulite of course. My doc. said i only need groin insision, it would take care of front of the legs only. he also said he will do lipo on my legs before tightening the skin.
I read here that groin insision only takes care of that small particular area between your legs on a very top. Thats not good enough for me. If i m going through this and paying so much money i would like to have smooth legs in front too. Well, i m going to talk to him about it one more time tomorrow

I do agree that the groin only incision is pretty limited, but that's just my opinion. I was not a candidate, and I don't think my thighs were that bad... I really believe it was because the loose skin was going farther down my leg even though there wasn't much of it....

I scheduled my surgery for November 8.I had my preop today. I brought up the issue of the front of my thighs. My doctor said that to
achieve smooth surface he ll need to make insision 2inches longer on top of the legs where the pantie line is.when I asked him about this labia issue that I read about here.he said it never happened with any of his patients and it's very rare condition. Wish me luck. I have 2 weeks left so doing all kind of fun activities such as belly dance as I know it will be awhile before I go back to it

Thanks, Angie. I m preparing, taking all the pre op supplements, they do work, i can say from previous surgeries. Its hard though to prepare yourself mentaly. all the knowledge in a world faids when anxiety kicks in. I have 3 days left, and my anxiety drives me nuts. I cant catch my breath sometimes, and can t even take anything for it as it can interfere with anesthesia.I sleep pretty well, probably defense mechanizm is working. But my period wont stop. Its been going on for a week now.
I ll keep you girls posted after, hopefully my recovery wont be that difficult as I anticipate.

Hi Yagapova, I had a TL groin incision only, I am glad I had it since it improved the little mound of fat I had on my inner thights. The recovery, however was not an easy one, it is hard to sit on the toilet, I had two areas open up, and I am not crazy about the scar under the butt. It's been 1 1/2 years and it is still visible. It might be truth that it does not envolve muscles as in a tummy tuck, but that area is under a lot of strain. I don't want to discourage You, since I am glad I had mine done. Let us know how your preparation and recovery goes.
