Hello, I wasnt sure where to post but I figure you ladies have done a lot of research on this subject, so maybe you could help. I lost 100lbs 2 years ago (I'm 46) and have loose skin on my thighs. Its not terrible and at this point I think I can avoid the pain and suffering (and scars) of a thigh lift. I do have a little excess fat, saddle bags, and lots of butt and upper thigh cellulite. What sort of interventions are available to me? I'm scared if I get lipo the skin will be loose and I will need a thigh lift. I have read about "smart lipo" that supposedly tightens skin. I dont need perfection but I just had a tummy tuck and arm lift and my lower body is in stark contrast to my upper body. I'd at least like to loose the saddle bags and would love to loose the cellulite. Any ideas?
Smart lipo is a very gimmicky thing. If you do your research (check out realself.com) you will read that any skin tightening it provides is minimal at best and works better in certain areas of the body. Inner thigh skin is notorious for being thin and not snapping back from lipo. After weight loss and with age, it is compromised even more. You most likely will have loose skin after lipo on your inner thighs.
Outer thigh skin is better, but again, smart lipo is not a miracle cure. Cellulite will not be improved with lipo. If you have it now, it will still be there after. I have my trouble spots with it as well, and the same exact spots I had pre-lipo are still there.
Some offices are offering treatments just for cellulite now.
My PS started doing it. I can't vouch for it, but it seems promising.
