At 2.5 weeks ripped stitches 2" wide & deep. 3 weeks dr. restitched. Then went home & a stitch reopened(right leg) then my husband noticed small opening on left back of thigh. Per dr. Caloca request I went back on Fri. just past 4 weeks. He said they were 80% healed, and he agreed as my husband told me they were healing from the inside and not as deep. He added a couple stitches on the right and put one on the left too as he wouldn't need to they would still heal, but he said this will speed the healing and he also checked everything again to make sure no infection, which there wasn't. He asked me not to start taking regular walks for one more week to make sure they don't reopen. He said it is usually moisture there that causes them to open. I took the advice of the epson salt soak but i just apply epsom salt compresses at night and then clean with betadaine everytime I go to the restroom. I am just trying to stay a little more patient. My scars are healing nice and thin but are angry red. I believe in the end all will be well, but I just get so frustrated as I've put on some weight and really want to start taking walks, and I realize everyone needs to wait 8 weeks before gym and weight lifting, etc. The tummy tuck, after the drain was taking out the first week, has been easy. The thigh lift is more challenging for me and takes a lot of patience. My surgeon, Dr. Caloca, did a good job. I had the thigh lift, tummy tuck, and dermabrasion. The thigh lift still is sore in those open areas when I sit, but I am beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Good luck to all of you thigh lift recovery patients, and remember to follow your surgeon's instructions. All of them, and ask any questions you may have.
If your able to, try doing the salt compresses 3 times per day. The salt cleans and drys the wound out. The more you do it that faster you will heal. Also salt is a great anti-bacterial. Hang in there!! I know it is a long road..
Thanks, salt it is 3X a day. It does look better now too. Anything that speeds healing I will do. Thanks for taking your time to share and encourage, so thankful for you. Are you now glad you did your thigh lift?
