2013 Tummy Tuck? Check in here!

Postby lissa1 » Sat Mar 09, 2013 5:26 am

I've noticed very few people have been posting here lately and it makes me sad, because the recovery for this surgery really requires that you have supportive people around you. Plus, the "what ifs" can drive you crazy!

That said, are you having a tummy tuck in the next few weeks / months - post! Did you recently have one? Post your experience! Let's support and encourage each other. #-o

I'll go first - my surgery is 3/14. I'm 38 and I'm having a lipo-abdominoplasty after having three children. I can't wait to wear a bikini this summer! I'm a single mother and taking 2 1/2 weeks off work and having a nurse and my best friend come help me for three days after. I'll try and post before pics as soon as I figure out how to resize them.

My fleur-de-lis TT is scheduled for March 28th and I can not wait! I've lost about 60 lbs. in the last 18 months and have leftover skin (blech!) that isn't going to budge. I'm having lipo to my hips/flanks also - my ps includes it with this type of tt and said it will give a much better result. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing more stories and seeing more pics - I think I've seen every TT pic on the Internet at this point! Good luck to you, Lissa...post your story and pics when you're up to it!

Congrats on losing so much weight! That's impressive. I can't even seem to lose five pounds. I'm having it sucked out instead lol. I'll keep you posted as best I can. Tomorrow I start taking the Bromelain supplements and my stool softeners. Not real excited about taking a bunch of pills. I have trouble enough with my vitamins. Cleaning the house. I don't feel prepared - definitely not prepared enough to take so much time off work.

Hello I had a tummy tuck already. I am 3 1/2 months post op and it is truly a healing process. I still wear my compression garment swell hell comes and goes in the evening. As long as you follow a low sodium, clean diet post op you should be okay. I am set to go back for my breast in June. I cant wait:0

Hi phm! Sorry to hear about swell hell. Do you like your results otherwise? Do you still wear a binder during the day or just at night? I've been worried about the sodium thing because I'm buying some frozen meals for after the surgery. I've been looking at low sodium ones . . . After the first few days, I will have to prepare my own meals. What sorts of things did you eat during that first week?

Hi Ladies
I am 3 days PO and I think the worst is behinde me now. I had a drainless TT/MR and back and flank lipo. Right now the lipo spots are making me moreuncomfortable than anything else. I took a shower today and couldnt get my binder back on quick enough. lol I hate having it on all the time but hated having it off even more. Go figure. Good luck everyone. Happy healing.

I'm scheduled for a TT with Lipo of the flanks on April 2! I am so excited! I had gastric bypass done January of 2009. I went from 303 lbs to 140 lbs at my lowest, now I am 5'5" and 170-175 lbs & it's time for me to get rid of my belly skin

My name is Tonya and I am scheduled for tt and lipo of flanks and inner thighs. My surgery is the end of May. My 1st child was an emergency c-section and I had the classic up and down incision. My 2nd was a VBAC. My c-section scar looks terrible! I have been wanting this done for so long. I am surprised that the cost is so high. My PS is charging 7,500 and the hospital bill is 4,500. I live in Michigan. My Blue Cross did pay for the 180.00 consult fee. Not sure if they will pay any of the surgery.

Hello everyone,
I just scheduled my surgery this morning! I'm getting a tt w/ mr on 4/23. My surgeon does the drainless progressive tension suture technique. I had two large pregnancies (1st was a 9.5 lb boy and the 2nd was 6.5 lb twin boys) and I have lost about 90 lbs. Both of the surgeons I met with discussed the possibility of me doing the circumferential body lift procedure to deal with the loose skin on my sides and back but that just wasn't financially feasible now. Heck, I've been saving for years just for the tummy tuck. LOL Maybe I can have the other stuff done at a later time. My surgeon doesn't do TT and lipo at the same time but said that lipo wouldn't really help my sides because its not fat but skin that's baggy.

How much time did you take off work? I'm planning to go back 18 days post op (fleur-de-lis TT and lipo to hips/flanks)...getting a little nervous that I haven't taken enough time off.
