Hi Rachel! Welcome! Congrats on your upcoming surgery. I just had surgery (FTT w MR) this past Wednesday. I was in really great shape also except for my loose skin and the "roll" around my hips that I could not get rid of. I exercised daily, worked out, P90X, everything for years. I was so NERVOUS also...but I made the leap of faith. I will tell you that I have not had to take one pain pill- only tylenol. Now I do have a higher pain threshold. I do not do Pain Meds well at all. My tolerance is very low and I usually end up nauseous and throwing up, which is not a good thing with this kind of surgery. I have took Valium. Are you getting a pain pump? It's no walk in the park, but it really wasn't as bad as I had myself hyped up about. I definitely think my recovery has been easier due to my core being in good shape. I have been able to utilize other muscles to move myself around.

Good Luck. Feel free to ask us all questions. We have soooo been there and many of us are going through everything you will be next week.

Hi Rachel! Let me also welcome you and say that every one of us here has gone the same thing. There are all sorts of situations and reasons people have this surgery. Some have lots lots of weight through gastric bypass and NEED it. Some (like me) had four huge kids and were sort of apple shaped to begin with so after losing almost all my baby weight (30lbs) still looked a sort of pregnant. And still others, like yourself and thin and toned and are just unhappy with their appearance.
And you know what my PS's assistant said that has stuck with me since my consultation? "A Tummy Tuck is the biggest surgery we do, the most complicated. It's also the hardest recovery. But far and away, the patients are THE MOST SATISFIED OF THEM ALL!"
So that tells me that if you are a person who is searching it out, you are a person who is unsatisfied with your situation and you want to make it better, for you. Believe me, like Misty said, it's not as bad as you think it is. Yes, there are some bad days in the beginning. And I didn't have it quite as good as her. I had a pain pump, and Dilauded for several days. But I was never in agony. And I look 10 times better than I did before and I'd do it agin 100 times over. I have not heard one person on this site say they wouldn't do it again, and I've seen and heard a lot of complaints and complications (which are few and far between by the way!).
So you are scheduled for this Thursday, which means you've paid your money and you want to do it. Nerves are getting the better of you. YOU WILL BE FINE! And you will be so happy you did it!
I recommend you don't read anything negative, only be around people who are supportive, get lots of sleep. And come here for SUPPORT often if you need to. There are lots of wonderful people here to help you if you need it.
Best wishes to you!!

Hi Rachel, you will be fine and yes the TT will be totally worth it. I will be 7 weeks PO tomorrow. I stayed in hospital 3 nights (part of my PS routine) MY drains were only in 2 days. Came home without a pain pump ( PS don't believe in them) and just using panadol when needed. I had a breast reduction 2 years ago and personall i think that pain was so much worse. I also am not a big person, just 5'2in and 120lb. But i did have very loose skin hanging over my knickers & was very thick above the belly button. As soon as you wake in recovery the hands go down to feel the
"flatness" even with my 2 binders on i could tell this was so worth it. You know what, the best part i think is when i go shopping now, i dont hate my reflection in shop windows . Now i think wow, i look great then move onto the next shop window. New meaning to window shoping ;lol. Good luck
Thursday,

I want to get it done so bad bc I'm unhappy with the extra skin too and I just want to feel good in clothes. I'm super excited for it to just b OVER!!! I'm also really afraid that I will lose everything I earned in the gym. How long did it take u guys to get back at it?? It's so nice to have supportive people to talk to about all of this. I've paid and did all the prep work and now I just have to hurry up and get to Thursday :) yikes!!

I'll be honest. I had cold feet. I had anxiety and panic attacks. In the week leading up to the surgery I must have calculated how much I'd loose if I canceled. (thousands). If I could have gotten 100% back I probably would have canceled, I was THAT stressed about it.

But I went through with it, although I opted for a mini tuck at the last minute, and I'm pleased. I was in good shape but two 50 lb pregnancies ruined my mid section, and no amount of diet and exercise could get rid of my pouch.

I'm only 5 weeks post op and still swollen, and I'm really looking forward to seeing my full results.

I was also terrified. I stopped in my PSs office last week and asked if I could speak to this woman that I saw in there last time I was there that had the TT on 12/20. She called me and we spoke yesterday and I feel SO MUCH BETTER! I knew reading the internet can be dangerous and it is. too much knowledge can be dangerous. We are all different and each PS is different.

I wouldnt say I'm thin but you can see my pictures and can see that many people would not understand why I am doing it.

If everything goes well, and it should, you wont have regrets. If you dont do it, you'll wonder for the rest of your life. Well, I would :o

Sounds like you are in great shape and that definitely should help your recovery! A strong core and strong legs will help you a lot.

I am 18 days post-op from full TT. It has been pretty easy so far for me. I almost feel lazy taking all this time off from work (I go back to work at 3 weeks post-op). I had a pain pump for 3 days and when that ran out I was fine. I have taken maybe 6-7 percocet...mostly to help me sleep and for back ache.

I know everyone is different. Good luck to you!

what you're feeling is totally normal. i had a panic attack a couple days before my surgery, and now im on the other side and well into recovery and i feel a bit silly getting so worked up because this was totally worth it and not half as painful as i thought it would be
