Dermabond

Dermabond

Postby glopak » Fri Jan 23, 2009 3:20 am

Has anyone used Dermabond? I thought the doc said I'd have stitches and then Dermabond on top but from reading about Dermabond it is used instead of stitches. I do remember the doc saying something about not having to worry about something to do with stitches...so maybe I misunderstood him when it came to Dermabond on top of stitches.

So...anything you know/heard/experienced with Dermabond? I know I'll get to shower from Day 1.

Thanks ladies! My surgery is in 3 days!!

I had stitches internally, and the Dermabond was used to close the outside incision. I had to wait 48 hrs to shower. My scar looks terrific so far

I have to upload current pics-----maybe later today. My PW is newwaist

I didnt have any itchy issues there. Initially there was some flaking as the glue worked its way off ( I didnt pick at it-though it was tempting ) . My husband has called my scar a "pencil line".

I am a labor and delivery nurse and we use dermabond all the time for our cesarean section incision. The docs I work with say they make the best scars they have ever seen. They are great in the surgical setting. I don't like them being used so much in the ER, but in surgery they are really nice. I think the patients experience less pulling on the incision than they do when there are staples etc.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

My doc also used Dermabond to close my incision. I didn't have any problems with it at all. Actually happy she went that route instead of using stitches to close it.
