my drain fell out!

my drain fell out!

Postby bellypleasegoaway » Mon Feb 08, 2010 7:01 am

I've been posting about my drain and how last week-Wednesday I think-the stitch that was holding it in broke. It's been such a struggle to keep that drain in and keep the area that has the holes in it inside my body (otherwise there's no suction and it's useless). Constant checking and taping and holding down with gauze had been successful until about 1 or 2 am this morning. The white part of the tubing was hanging about by about an inch and I just couldn't shove it back in at that point (OUCH) and the bulb wouldn't stay compressed. I was in a panic and my poor SO had to put up with my weeping and whining and I barely slept last night worrying about it. It didn't exactly hurt a lot but was achey and uncomfortable and kind of gross. I don't have an appointment until tomorrow but wanted to call today to see if I could come in for a very short time just to deal with this. Around 8 am, the drain just slid out and was hanging there. I didn't even feel it. I was surprised how short my drain was The white tubing wasn't even 10 inches long.
I'm kind of nervous because i had been draining quite a bit and hope I don't get fluid buildup. It feels good that it's out, but I didn't want it to be THIS way! It was kind of strange after reading how much it hurt for some ppl to get it taken out, that mine slid out and I didn't even feel it. I'm going to call the office when they're open and see what they say. What an ordeal!

Edited to say that it had actually been since Tuesday that I'd been struggling to keep this drain in place. I called the office and they're going to squeeze me in in a couple of hours. I hope he doesn't try to shove another drain in there or anything. I'm kind of draining out onto gauze right now. Disgusting, but actually more comfortable than a drain trying to sneak out.

In the mean time I hear that maxi pads or nursing pads work great for drainage. I hope you get this all figured out. Good luck :? :)

Thanks for the advice. Are pads sterile enough? I suppose if I'm worried about that, I could put a piece of sterile gauze between the pad and the drain hole. Ick.
I'm not too worried about the whole thing EXCEPT that I was still draining quite a bit when it fell out. I don't want fluid buildup! :(

I've been to see PS and am back already! Everything's fine. Half my stitches were removed and I was given my CG and I'm cleared for showers!!!!!! All that worrying for nothing, it turns out. :P

Great news - I have heard several of the girls said that their drains fell out and everything was OK.

The shower was, indeed, wonderful.
The CG, on the other hand, is a task I will try again tomorrow. LOL
OMG HOW do you get those things ON?
