I realize that most of us are, blessedly, moving on about our lives, but I wanted to get the thread going one last time as I have my revision scheduled tomorrow and need a place to vent/visit so I don't make my DH crazy(er).
I am nervous and apprehensive, and I just want it to be over; take out the bad stuff, even out the skin and sew me up so I can get on about my life.
I'm super duper annoyed that I need drains again--and I'm not sure why really, as this is supposed to be such a minor event that it could have possibly been done under local. I'll have to double check the reasoning on that one.
Check in if you can--hope you are all well.
2/15/12: FTT, MR, Lipo to abs, hips and flanks 4/11/13: revision due to necrosis: incision re-do, full debridement, minor muscle repair
I developed necrosis along my incision--extending about 3 or so inches from center in each direction. I've been dry packing it every day and my body is healing, but there is unevenness that needs to be addressed, and some undesirable scarring. Oh, and I guess most importantly, the wounds are still open and my surgeon feels that by waiting longer, I increase my risk for further infection and, at this point, its safe to go ahead and sew it up.
He offerred me the option to sew it up at 3 weeks out, but recommended letting my body do as much work as possible as the body tends to heal itself better, whenever possible. However we officially reached 'enough is enough.' (Technically I was there 2 weeks ago, but...)
I know necrosis was this big scary black cloud in my fears of potential complications, but I will say that it did not hurt, and once I got over the gore factor (which did take a few days), it became bearable. I was just relieved to know what was happening, and that it was not serious.
I mean, its not every day your body emits dead infected fat....

Definitely. It is shocking and alarming, and I am always so amazed at how well you gals end up dealing with it. I think I would not do so good. I would be a mess. You are very strong!
Thanks for explaining what you are having done, and I think it is great your doctor wants to do it early, rather than having you go through more healing just to disrupt things and start over. I think you will be glad to have this done now, although I know it is not exactly inviting to go into surgery so soon after the big one! But after all you've been through, this should help to bring a closure to it all.
I look forward to hearing how it all goes, and glad you started up the thread!

Hi Emersmask, I was happy to hear you have healed enough for your surgery. Are you having it done under general anesthesia? Hopefully you will only have the drains for a few days. I will be praying all goes well. You deserve an uneventful recovery from here on out. Best Wishes.
Oh my goodness, thank you all so much! I appreciate your comments and positivity so much... That was a really nice set of sentiments to come back to, as I'm checking in for the night.
We need a big giant 'hug' emoticon....
Honestly, the no eating or drinking until after its all said and done is my current complaint. (I forget who asked, but I'll be under for this particular adventure. )
Somehow I have to get my kids to school, hit the dry cleaners and grocery before we leave for the hospital at 12. I'm going to be so starving,,, should be interesting what I put in my cart.
I'm thinking of you guys too and glad you're doing well.... And update your albums if you can!!!!
2/15/12: FTT, MR, Lipo to abs, hips and flanks 4/11/13: revision due to necrosis: incision re-do, full debridement, minor muscle repair
Hey guys out of surgery. Ouch. Much more bearable than last but the incision.... Well it hurts. Alot. And I might be biased right now, but I think I'd take muscle pain over incision any day.
Sort of feel like I was the assistant in a magic trick but the boxes didn't move and they actually did saw me in half.
Im to shower tomorrow and im am afraid to look at the incision. Last time I looked after surgery, the incision was crusted with melted dead fat. Fingers crossed no whammies this time!!
Brazen, so at least youre not the only Feb gal with drain(s) anymore! hoping you're free soon.
Happyme, I'm not sure what a dogear looks like, so I'm not sure. Maybe if you asked the board at large they might be able to tell you. Ith ink you look great, btw. I'm sure the side swelling is making you but once that resolves, you are going to be rockin' those midriff shirts and low riders!!!

emersmask, I have been following your story for a few months now. I just want to say you are in my prayers. I am so glad you got out of sx well. Hoping tomorrow you a pleasantly surprised as what you see
Oh forgot to mention that he had to redo part of the muscle repair. It "came loose" and I'm unclear on why. He said it shouldn't have happened. Maybe damage from the fluid/necrosis? Maybe I pulled it myself standing up straight too soon? Questions for when I'm not on narcotics....
