HELP!! 5 YEARS after TT swelling and pain like post surgery

HELP!! 5 YEARS after TT swelling and pain like post surgery

Postby philsfan » Tue Jan 09, 2018 5:34 pm

I have no idea what is wrong with me. My TT was in 2012. I had a ton of swelling which took me a year get down. Now here I am 5 years later and I feel like I just had surgery!!! My entire flap is swollen, painful, muscles are killing me like I just had surgery, incision is painful, and I am soooo swollen. I saw my GP and the plastic surgeon. Neither know what this could be . My GP mentioned Lupus, but my bloodwork looks ok. The plastic surgeon was unhelpful and says it could be autoimmune, but he has never seen anything like this. Im wondering if somehow Im' having a latent autoimmune response to the permanent sutures. I'm very scared and I can barely function.

Yes. My surgery was in March 2012. I still have extreme swelling and tightness, with a bulge in the upper right portion of my stomach. I had an extended tummy tuck, lipo to the mid section, flanks, lower back, and a fat transfer butt lift. The first few months post surgery, I suffered from severe swelling and had to have lymphatic drainage massages while i was in recovery. Returned home from Tijuana and had a couple of CT scans and ultrasound to find out why I was so swollen. The swelling was so bad I was getting brand new stretch marks. So much for the tummy tuck. I literally looked like a barrel with arms and legs. I don't think I was properly cared for immediately after surgery. The doctor should have been more involved with my recovery, instead of leaving it up to the well meaning nurses. My muscle repair was in vain, as my tummy looks worse than it did before the original surgery. Especially the upper right abdomen and the lower area under my belly button. It feels like I have a hard football under the skin surface. Blood work all normal, CT scan shows girdle muscle separation. Yup, the same one that was repaired. I weigh less than I did after surgery, so weight gain isn't the problem. I was 48 when I had my surgery by the way.

I am happy to see these message boards less active. Maybe people are becoming more accepting of their bodies. If only I had felt that way 6 years ago. Good luck to you.
