This seroma is driving me batty!!!!!! I am 2 months out and still wearing my binder...arghhhh! The seroma is under my bb. It's small, atleast I think. It has been aspirated 6 times already. Two weeks ago it was aspirated for the last time or so I thought. My PS only got 5 cc's...then he injected it with steroids. He thought that would be the end of it. Well I've been wearing a teenie tiny towel just over the seroma along with the binder for extra compression. Right after I remove that towel my bb is totally flat but if I keep it off for more than an hour I start to see the fluid again. I am so depressed. I called my PS today and he's getting me in next week. I am so bummed as I thought it was gone I want out of this stupid binder so bad! I'm afraid this seroma will harden or turn into a bursa if it hasn't already. I was just wondering how long did your seroma last and did it ever just go away on it's own? I'm hoping mine will but it's already been 2 months. I am so frustrated I could scream...UGH! Thanks so much for letting me vent..lol! Kris :O)
I feel your frustration. Mines been 3 weeks so far. Was having to go back every other day and was getting between 150-250ml. Been back today after a week away and he only got 40ml. He injected steroids a week ago so it looks like they helped. Plan is to see him in anointed week and hopefully it will be less again if any. He told me rest and compression are key. So frustrating though as the rest of me is healing nicely.
Thanks Guys!!! Jon....I'm praying for you that it will be gone! The good thing is that it keeps getting smaller...That's how mine's been. Where is yours located? I did have one on my hip that was about 50 cc's and it went away with one aspiration! Wish my bb would be the same way Keep us posted!!! JJ...Yikes..I just read your post and replied. I wish I could be more comforting for you. I have a dog ear on my left hip that will be revised around my 6 month mark. Did it hurt when they removed it? My nurse said no worries...just in and out. Maybe I'll just keep mine then..lol. You did make me feel better...I was worried that 2 months was too long. Did yours resolve on it's own at 10 weeks or was it gone after your last aspiration? LMK what your PS says about the hardspot. I'm keeping you in my thoughts sweetie! aces67...That sounds painful! How much fluid did you have for it to drain on it's own..YIKES!!! You were lucky though..5 days is awesome!
Thanks for the replies...it's good to know we're not alone in this crazy stuff! Kris :O)
I was using those big old maxi pads on it- the thick, pillow type and I was having to change it 4-6 times a day. I was getting ready to shower and I bent over to take off my socks and my incision opened up and it just started flowing. I'm so glad its gone now. It was so bad I had to hold a washcloth over it while I got in and out of the shower to keep it from dripping on the floor:(

Hi Kris - thanks for your kindness. I'm waiting for the doc office to open and will give them a call. will keep everyone posted just in case someone else has this type of experience.
My seroma basically was gone after the last aspiration. (pretty bad when I looked forward to them - oh my!) It was located just below my pretty new bb. I did have swelling months after that but found that using a compression garment significantly helped.
Sorry for lack of reply not been on here for a few days.
Seroma is still with me at nearly a month post surgery but it is getting smaller each time. The steroids definitely helped and now it's like a small swelling rather than a huge one. Hopefully with a couple more weeks and aspirations it will close up and go. At least it's not painful now like it was when it was getting 200+ml out of it.
Im not sure what a ml is compared to a cc but my seroma had more fluid in it than my 3 month old baby has in her feed bottles when I was first getting it drained!
