Just wondering if anyone out there who had hematoma experience could tell me how long it took to reabsorb. It will be 4 weeks next week for me. My seroma is almost resolved but the hematoma I have in my upper abdomen is still there. The PS drained about 100cc's out of it the first week but since then just tiny amounts like 2 cc's a week. It is still swollen and sore there. He said some massage might help so I am doing that. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions? If not, just knowing how yours finally resolved would be reassuring. Thanks for all the support you always give.
I am exactly 5 weeks post-op today and I also have a hematoma. Mine is located about the middle of my right side. I developed this about a week post-op and it has gone done quite a bit. It was very bothersome at first, because it was so swollen on that side that I was afraid to move for fear of ripping open my incision. My Dr. tried draining it twice now and the blood was too gelatinous (thick) to really remove any considerable amount (they thought they would get at least 80-100CC). So, instead of putting me through anymore of those procedures we are letting it dissolve on it's own. I did keep a heating pad on it for a couple weeks and A LOT of rest on the couch with my feet up. I was going nuts with boredom, but was willing to try anything to get it down. The heat worked great! They have also done a couple ultrasound treatments to reduce the hematoma and that has helped a lot as well. Don't despair, mine was really large and in two weeks has gone done so much I look like I have a waist again! Good luck!
