I was rolled into the or about 1:30 and was done by 3:30. I was awake and had a diet coke and graham crackers by 4 then if I recall correctly, I made a post here and on FB while in the bed! I had been so scared I was going to die that I was so happy to be awake and have it all behind me that I couldn't wait to post that I was alive and well!! Right after, I got up and got dressed, they asked me how I was feeling..I said I was ready to go home and they wheeled me to the car and home I went, in under 45 of being awake.

I went in at 6:00am, surgery was at 7:00am, done at noon. I was in the recovery room for two hours being taken care of trying my best to wake up. I was very drugged up. They told my hubby after the initial post-op report that I would be in recovery for an hour. When two hours passed he was getting worried and asked again for me. That's when they wheeled me into a hospital room in a surgery center and was getting ready to get him and I was coming around better and asked for him. I was in that room from 2-4pm. I live 15-20 minutes from the surgery center so I got home a little after 4pm. I made sure to take the pain meds that were offered to me in all that time there. The good stuff in my IV. Then two percocet before going.
You girls here on this sight are so strong i can't believe you all. Here, We have our TT, wake up in recovery where they usually keep us for 1 to 2hrs. Then take you to a private room where you stay for about 4 to 5nights or till all drains and catheters are out. You girls are going home within hours, i am gobsmacked.
Never had a catheter, does it hurt? and you can drink as much as you like and not have to go wee? do you have to empty yourself or change bags ect.... not getting up to wee. oh can't wait for that bit.
My tummy tuck, muscle repair, side lipo and breast lift surgery was five hours (all my ps' surgeries are that long for these procedures). I was coddled in a spa-like recovery area in his ps surgical center for another eight hours before I was driven home. I was medicated out the whazoo...thank God...don't remember anything until I was in the car.
I was in surgery about 8 1/2 hrs. I don't think I was in recovery too long and I think it was because the nurses wanted to go home. I only remember being shoved in the car begrudgingly. Two visits later the nurse asked if I remembered telling her she was full of shit when she told me I would feel better later. I guess I told her I was never getting out of the car. I recall I hurt so bad everywhere and I could not see out of my eyes. It was horrible. I felt like I should be in a hospital and my friend who was a nurse driving me home was scared to death that I was going to die because I looked so bad!! She didn't know how to get back to my house and I could not see to guide her. My Dr/surgical center is 30 mins from my house. My friend got so lost and it took over an hr to get home.
I had to return the next afternoon for a catheter because I was never able to pee after having the surgery. I felt like I was going to blow up. I was so swollen that they had a very hard time getting it in and it hurt like hell but was such a relief. I made them take it out right after because i did not want to go home with it. I had no problem going after that thankfully.
After reading your story jms46, oh you poor thing. i am now glad my doc keeps me in hospital for 5 days. i then know i am totally taken care of, But still looking forward to the catheter, i am on pills now to help stop me weeíng so much and to not have to go would be bliss.
I'm not sure where you are Wernie, but I'm in the UK and we're molly coddled here, it completely amazes me that all these ladies go home the same day!
I was in surgery 2 hours starting at 9am, not sure how long before I woke up, but I only felt like I was awake in recovery for about 10 mins before they wheeled me to my room, and I ate a sandwich for lunch by midday so it can't have been long.
I was planned to stay in 2 nights which I did. Just as well as my blood pressure was so low that I couldn't stay sitting or standing until the afternoon of day 2 and even then I just sat in a chair in my room and felt really light headed, but I was determined not to get back in bed again as they had wanted me up and moving around a couple of hours after surgery and I was getting really peed off with trying regularly and then nearly collapsing each time.
I had to have a catheter because I was desperate to wee but I couldn't go in a bedpan and nearly passed out sitting on a commode for a couple of minutes.
