luckymim wrote:None. Had minimal lipo, but had almost 9 pounds removed from the tummy. No change at all in my clothing size,. Go figure that. I am 4 weeks post op so I'm hoping maybe for at least 1 size drop still.
I'm sort of in the same boat as you only I'm halfway as far PO as you.
I lost like 5-6 lbs skin & fat on my belly but I'm still in the same size. I'm hoping after the swell hell is gone that some size will come off.
If the reason you are thinking about this surgery is to loose weight, dress size, ect. you will not be happy with the results.
This is not a surgery for weight loss. Most PS and internet research will confirm this. While the surgery can spur weight loss once you can return to normal activities it should not be concdered a weight loss procedure.
Before I had the surgery I lost over 50 pounds through diet and exercise (although from the belly you would not think it). the left over belly was not going away with any amount of exercise or diet. I work with a personal trainer 2 times a week and run 3-5 miles a day.
Not writing to sould like I am being mean just want you to have the facts.
I went from a size 12 to a size 6. I had my surgery Dec 21st. I can squeeze into a size 4 but not very comfortably. Lol. My hips are too poofy. I weighed 169 the day of my surgery and currently weigh 145 and still losing. I eat healthy foods every 2-3 hours and bike ride in the evenings.
jamie - I lost 89 lbs before my surgery and was 10 lbs. from goal. I and also 5'9" and was a size 14 going into surgery and am STILL a size 14. I am almost 9 weeks PO and still have lots of swelling.
My clothes fit differently now where they are loose in the stomach and tight in the waist and upper abs where most of my swelling is. Two days ago my waist was 3 inches larger than before surgery, but it is back down to only 1 inch bigger today. There is no figuring out the swelling, it just is. If/when it goes away for me, I have no doubt I will easily wear a size 12 which was my goal. I had a FTT w/MR and no lipo. I also had my arms done and am so glad to have the "flags" no longer waving!
I am 12 weeks out and was at a fairly good weight at the time of my sx. I am down about 5 lbs. now (w/ swelling it varies) and have gone down from a size 6 to size 4 in some clothes. My ps thinks I will go down a little more.
I exercise everyday and am careful with my diet (a must at age 51).
Jamie: I am like you. I have been as big as a 22 and am now a 16 in pants and more of a 14 in tops. The pants have to zipper over my tummy roll. There is a big diference here among women. Some pictures I see they really have just skin to loose. For me, and it sounds like you, I have a real roll of fat that the Dr.'s have said I won't loose. I still would like to loose 10 more pounds before surgery but I loose so slowly that I just have to eat healthy going into the surgery. When I just saw my PS last week he said he was actually really excited for me because I would see such a difference.
I havent had my TT yet, but my ps said that it isn't just the tummy that gives you your pant size, it is also the width of your hips. Imagine wrapping a piece of ribbon around your waist, it is the hips that the ribbon fits around. The TT will make you flatter to be sure, but the ribbon still goes around your hips. It makes sense then that some women lose a size and some dont.
I had lipo of the hips and abs and lost 1 size. I think that after the TT I will loose 1 more because now my pants are baggy aroung the butt, but my tummy is what is stopping me from getting a pair that fit right.
I think woman with no fat and only lose skin dont lose as much unless they have tons of lose skin..like from a Gastric bypass..........my ps said i will lose 2 sizes but i do plan to have lipo too all around the hits..ads..thighs.......and if this flap of fat is gone i will have to lose a size...i hope to get into an 8 within2 mths after. deb
I haven't gone down in pant sizes yet. I was a size 12/10 pre-Op and can only now start wearing some pre-OP size 10's. I am fitting into them better as each day/week goes by. I an not sure whether I will drop a size (to an without additional diet or exercise. The PS did remove a bunch of skin and a large roll of fat (apparently 13lbs worth). I notice a difference in the clothes and a huge roll of skin/fat no longer rests on my thighs when I sit down...YAY!
