I DONT WANT TOO DISAPPOINT ANYONE WHO WANTS TOO GET A TT DONE BUT JUST WANT TOO LET OUT MY STORY AND ALSO NEED TOO VENT AS NO ONE ELSE UNDERSTANDS AND I FEEL SO DUMB WASTING MY MONEY ON THIS SURGERY. IT WAS NOT WORTH ALL THE PAIN I WENT THROUGH. 6 MONTHS LATER IM STILL SWOLEN (NORMAL AFTER READING SOME THREADS) IM STILL SWOLEN ON ONE SIDE OF MY LOWER STOMACH ITS HARD AS A ROCK, AND I HAVE THE UPPER AB BULGE WHICH I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THATS HAPPENING..IT DOES NOT MOTIVATE ME TOO GO WORK OUT..IVE GAINED ALL MY WEIGHT BACK PLUS MORE..MY STOMACH DOES NOT LOOK NORMAL..I WAS THINKING OF SEEING ANOTHER DOCTOR TOO SEE IF THEY CAN DO ANYTHING TOO FIX THIS BUT I DONT WANT TOO GO THROUGH THE PAIN AGAIN....UGHH IDK WAT TOO DO
I'm sorry that you are having such a hard recovery and results that are not optimal!
You say that you have gained all of your weight back, how much is that? I know that doesn't explain the swelling, but do you think that might play a part in your stomach not looking like you had hoped? Our ps's can only do so much and we have a responsibility too in achieving the best results! I'm not trying to place all of the blame on you or upset you further, but i think it could be part of it. I haven't seen your pictures of the areas that concern you, so it's hard to really say what could be causing some of the problems. I know it's hard to feel motivated to do much when you're emotionally tired from worrying with this, but I say..go to the gym and perhaps try eating more clean and get the extra weight off and see how that changes things! I think there is a certain point where exercising is going to cause swelling early in our recovery....but on the flip side, I think once we are further out, a little exercise could actually help move the fluid build up and get your body working on your side!!
Nikki - 34 Full TT w/ MR 8/3/11 Revision to remove scar tissue knot 10/26/11
I agree with Nikki, and try not to get so down, you went through a lot-surgery, recover not to mention the expense. Get back on track of eating better and working out, I always walked and that would make me feel better, especially now with the weather changing to cool, it is nice to go out and get some fresh air. i never used to kill myself, just walked 45 min a day, 5 days a week would keep me in good shape. Have you talked to your ps about your issues? Maybe find a ps that does free consultation to have a look at you and offer you some advice. About the upper tummy-my friend had a tt in march and is swollen there. Her ps thinks she did too much with her ab during early recover and said it takes a a good year to recover from tt and swelling. Also, from everything i hear, you need to give yourself a year to heal.
Definitely agree with the girls before me, and yes, it can take a year for sure!
Oddly, so many people get upper ab swelling that doesn't start until around the 5-7 month mark. You are normal there.
Whether you have gained weight or not, you still have swelling for sure. That's going to happen, so concentrate on what you do have control over and that is your diet and exercise. Losing any actual "fat" that you have gained. That you can do. (if you have actually gained fat and are not confusing swelling with fat).
Don't give up! You are letting the swelling monster get into your head and that is the hardest part of this recovery, but you can't let it win. To keep this new body, we need to stay motivated for life, even if we slip up we need to get back on the wagon and keep going!
You know we expect swelling in the early weeks. You can't have any PS surgery and not swell in the early weeks. What is particularily hard about the TT swelling is dealing with it months down the line. We don't expect it to last like it can and usually does, and so it is very hard. But it is normal, and you can get through this!
I had my surgery on June 28th. I didn't have the typical tummy tuck. Since mine was covered by the VA (government), I was able to get a panniculectomy and my PS also did a partial tummy tuck - which means he redraped the skin like a tummy tuck, gave me a new belly button, etc. Things typically not done with panni surgery, he went a little extra for me.
BUT - I did not get MR or lipo.
So while I went through ALL the pain, depression, complications and everything that a person who had a full tummy tuck went through, my results are different. I'm not that flat, flat, flat that others whose pictures I see on here are. When I bend over, I don't have a roll of skin that falls anymore and I don't "pouch out", but I don't have a sunken in flat appearance.
When I sit, its straight up and down and I don't have rolls anymore, but when I put on pants I am getting a slight muffin top - but that's okay. It's either swelling or what I'll end up with - but I can fix that too if I want.
So what I'm trying to say is - I went through all the pain and same crap as everyone else, but my results, while great and I look great, no stretch marks, etc., I didn't get that 20 year old tummy that others will end up with - but I'm okay with that - I have a great looking tummy - eons better than what I started with (8lbs of excess skin).
You CANNOT compare yourself to anyone else and how their surgery turned out - there are a lot of factors involved, look at all the pictures of the good surgeries here and you'll see that EVERYONE looks different. Some are really sculpted and really flat and defined, others look really good, but not as sculpted, and some are flat but with a little bit of some fat hanging around because we are bigger ladies to begin with.
Look at what works FOR YOU - don't compare yourself to someone else.
I'm more than 2 months out and still swelling, look great in the AM but look pregnant by the PM - but I'm hanging on, I know it will get better, it will improve and so I'm practicing patience.
But gaining weight will definitely not help - you will not be happy with your stomach at a bigger size. The smaller your amount of body fat, the better your result (at least that's what my PS says).
This is a kick in the butt. Get up off of it, get back to exercising, get the extra weight you put on off and you'll have the results you want. If the PS didn't lipo out enough fat on your upper abs, then have him redo it.
Come on - let's change that attitude. You are more than welcome to PM me if you need some more kick in the butt - I'm retired Air Force and I'm really good at it! HA

I'm only 2 months out but I have seromas too along with a hole. I am having surgery next week because the Dr said it's the only way I will heal properly with the seromas. I need to be cleaned out and have drains put back in. I feel all hard on one side too with the swelling and have hard lumps around where my incision is. I am only hoping that after surgery this all heals up properly inside and no more seroma problems. You should consult with your PS or another one and try to find out if you ever did heal properly inside with the seromas. You don't want to go through life regretting what should have been a positive improvement in your body.
