Swelling Below Belly Button Normal?

Swelling Below Belly Button Normal?

Postby lf_42 » Sat Apr 10, 2010 7:44 pm

I have crazy swelling below my BB just above and below my scar. Looks like I'm pregnant is this normal? It's rock hard all the way across and looks like a balloon overfilled but over the BB doesn't seem very swollen at all.

I just want to make sure I didn't damage my MR with all the coughing I have been doing.

THis is the area I swell in also ... firm to the touch but its bulged out a bit. Mine typically is flat in the morning, and then it progressively gets swollen as the day goes by. I"m thinking its normal, and part of being early in the recovery phase.

Thanks Crystal, I was starting to think I really messed up the MR. The only thing different with me is mine is never flat it's always swollen. Hopefully time will make it go away. I just keep drinking the water hoping to flush it out.

I don't just magically wake up flat ... at night I wear my binder really tight and ice it for about 20mins beforehand. If I don't wear the binder at night, I have slight swelling, and sometimes by days end I think my lower tummy is about 2-3" bigger than the upper abs. I just bought a bottle of Bromelain to try and see if that helps at all with the swelling. I think I will give anything a try.

You can probably see the swelling in my pics, and how I modified my binder to bring this down over night.

Thanks Guys,

Cyrstal I have been on Bromelain since 3 days before surgery so maybe it just takes some time for it to go down. My ps gave me a whole Vita Medica regimine to follow 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after to follow to promote healing and keep swelling and bruising to a minimum.

Jewels, You have the exact swelling I have only I didn't post my after side photos I was hoping maybe by next week it would go down an I could could post new side photos. I wasn't going to post photos at all but I know how much it helped me to see real people and their results before hand. We are both from North Jersey I can't believe how many women I have met thru this board that live so close.Did they send you home same day too? It's nice to know we are not alone.

Good Luck to both of you I just know our swelling will go down soon. Have a good night.

L - it is comforting to know that someone else is going through something similar. :-)
I stayed overnight & didn't go home until the evening of the 2nd day. I can't imagine how you went home the same day. Standing up the 2nd day was horrible! The day of surgery, I don't even know if I was awake long enough to have gone home. lol
I haven't really been looking at anyone's location, but now that you mention it, it'll be great to see who else is in the area!

Your results are wonderful. It's the first time I've seen them. I think your swelling is normal. I get it to, below my bb, you can kinda see it in my pics. I'm sure you've got a folllow up appt soon, I'd ask to make sure. Your results are great though. :D

I sometimes swell bellow the belly button as well. If you look closely you can see in my Avatar that area is swollen. You just want to make sure that you are not collecting any fluid in that area. If it doesn't feel like fluid and it just feels like swelling, then you are probably fine.

I posted this SAME EXACT POST a week or so ago. I SWORE it was fluid because it was JUST RIGHT THERE!!! From my breasts to my bb has NO swelling (that I can tell), but that lower "gut" area makes me look PREGNANT!!! It's getting BETTER, but I've NEVER seen that flat tummy I am hoping to have at the end of the day. There's NEVER been a time (in these 18 days) that I've been flat or looked like I've had a tt. The loose skin is gone, but the "fat" look is there. My ps told me it's very common... gravity makes the swelling lower on some ladies and and it just stops at the scar (it basically holds it up). So I'm just being patient. But I can't wait for my first "flat" moment (even though I know it'll come and go a lot for the next several months).

hi gals. ok im 3mos post op now and i had mini tt w the MR done. i too wake up flat then by days end bugling below the bb. at 1st i thought it was swelling but i went back to him and he said its muscle bulge. so now i gotta go after the summer to see him to see wut he needs to go back in and redo. i am not super happy but i guess i have to deal with it. its not that i look bad but its there. in my pics which are on a site called realself.com (im the name mamaags if u wanna find the pics as i cant seem to get them on this site)the frontal pics of me look great then my last photo u can see this darn ledge popping out now. he told me im too tiny to have had the full tt. hes a well known exp dr so i went w him as he did my breasts and my sis too and her nose and did amazing jobs. the 1st few wks i just assumed that it was swell as most ppl said it was but i found out otherwise. its way btr than wut i started with but if u are gonna pay big bux then it shuld be done perfect or darn close to perfect. i so could use a nicer car at this time but i wanted this surgery for many yrs after baby 2 and since i cant get prego no more this is my final surgery until im old and mite need more lol..
