What about upper abs fat? Does it go away with a tuck???

What about upper abs fat? Does it go away with a tuck???

Postby cbmmom5 » Tue Jan 20, 2009 12:15 pm

Hi ladies,
I have a question about upper ab fluff. I know that most pss will not perform upper ab lipo during a tummy tuck, due to the restriction in blood supply, but how do they get the upper abs so nice and flat? I know MR has something to do with it, but what about the left over fat.

I am getting closer in this journey. I have a consult on the 6th with the first ps I saw. I can't wait.

Thanks again
Connie

You are correct. Ps will not do lipo with tummy tuck for that reason. I had a TT and my upper abs are nice and flat when sucking it in. But If I relax.. It sticks out a little. Not alot, but it is rounded. Look at my pics you can see. Good LUCK!

Jennifer,

Thanks for responding. I was just curious if the skin was pulled down tight and that was made it more flat. I don't have a lot of upper ab fluf when I am standing, but when I sit I get an above bb role that will gladly get rid of.

Tammy - Congrats on the weight loss. I don't know about you but I am really getting anxious to get my procedures done. It seems like it is taking forever between finding the right doc, losing weight, digging up the money and getting all my questions answered. I have been obsessed with the whole thing. LOL.

My PS wouldn't do Lipo on the upper abbs either.........I have upper abb fat and if I suck in its gone and if I relax its there........I think I am going to do more about it when I do or IF I ever get the ok to work the upper abbs out since I had MR done.........If not I can live with the little upper abb fat I have........Its annoying yes but it doesnt STICK out to the point people look and gasp at me...........

I noticed that a lot of women have a double tummy after weight loss. So the top tummy is sometimes mostly skin. When the PS moves the belly button so they can tighten the skin, that pulls the top tummy down too. The other difference it muscle repair. The muscles get lax with age. If the PS tightens them some that will also reduce the upper tummy size. Lipo to the flanks an hips also shapes the bod, so you don't end up with that square hipped no tummy look. My tummy is still a little larger than it was prior to the tuck. The final results take time.

Kim, That is right, I remember that either True or Myturn07 had that done where they shaved the "fat pad" before the skin was pulled down.

Elyse or Lori, was that either of you two??

I had no lipo, (anywhere!)if you look at my before pics, my upper abs looked horrid! I think the MR and pulling the skin down helped dramatically, but yes, I am the one....my PS shaved down a fat pad directly above my BB.

My PS did light upper ab lipo, normally they won't do to blood flow.

that was one of my primary concerns when selecting a ps for myTT
most of my fat is in my "spare tire"it is very uncomfortable

he does upper ab lipo w/tt and yes they can slice the fat out too

i had lipo several years ago and that jerk sucked the fat out of my lower stomach and barely touched my upper abs so it is very important to me to get it right this time

haven't had it yet am hoping for the spring

Because of the not being able to lipo at time of tummy tuck my PS suggested that I do the lipo of the upper stomach now and then wait 3-6 months for the tummy tuck. I just had 5000 cc of fat removed from my upper stomach, flanks, and back and then I will go in March and have the tummy tuck. I think this is really going to help my body look right....I'm a bigger girl so I had always wondered if they didn't do lipo how it was all going to go together. I'm loving the lipo so far and can't wait to have the tummy tuck to just make it all go great together!
