Spitting or splitting stitches, refer to a portion of disolvable stitches that don't get disolved before te body rejects them. Like if you get a splinter, eventually, the body will work it out on it's own. What happens is, a cyst forms around it, and it migrates to the surface of the skin. Once at the surface, it looks like a pimple. It's actually an abcess. Whn it pops open, it drains. There might be blood and pus in it, as well as the peice of stitch. I had this happen when I had my BR done. Everytime, they were very small, not painful, and no real trouble, just a minor annoyance. I had maybe 6 or 7, and the last couple were months and months after the surgery, maybe even a year afterwrds. Hard to remember, as it was so long ago.

I'm about 4.5 weeks post op and getting spitting stitches. My PS removed one in my breast and now it seems to be healing well. I've got another one festering in my TT incision. They are extremely annoying, and frightening b/c they look like infection and can ruin your scar. Are you getting these, or just curious?
