I am very seriously considering getting a labiaplasty, does anyone recommend a specific Doc in Jacksonville, fl? Any tips/advice you can offer would be great! What kind of questions should I ask the DOc prior to the surgery? Thanks!
I am in Palm coast FL, about an hour south of you, and my regular OBGYN was qualified to do the procedure, and I am very pleased with the results. I had it done about three weeks ago, and although the healing is a little more than I bargained for, it looks just as I hoped it would!
If I were you, I would consider surgeons in the State and beyond. There is a really great surgeon in Fort Lauderdale and there are also a group in Atlanta.
I've said it again on other posts, but the key is to find a surgeon who has done this lots of times. Even if one person on these message boards said theirs went great (and mine did), that doesn't mean that the surgery will always go well if the doc is not that experienced.
Go with a surgeon who has a proven track record, who can demonstrate that with numbers (per year/per week etc.), who has lots of photos for you to look at, and who publishes their complication/success rate. That is really the only objective way of doing it. Anecdotal stories on these boards are fine, but they will not guarantee a good outcome.
I know that even the most experienced surgeon can make mistakes, but the odds are greatly reduced. Having gone through this myself, I know that you really cannot afford to have someone 'mess up'. You would deal with the consequences of that for the rest of your life.
Sorry to go on, but it has just made me so sad having read some posts on these message boards about mistakes.
So so true marimartine! Don't know if I could have put that any better.
Sure it can be a "simple" procedure. But one with dire consequences. The truth is not just any surgeon can perform a successful labiaplasty. Bottom line. I don't care what they say. Just like not all can perform a rhinoplasty or even breast aug. Training, skill & technique is quintessential.
Congratulations on your success and thank you for sharing! I have talked and worked with too many women that took this lightly.
