Labiaplasty in Perth Western Australia

Labiaplasty in Perth Western Australia

Postby suemy » Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:13 am

Hi to any female considering having labiaplasty surgery - especially in Perth,
I wanted to let girls know about my experience so that they don't have to go through what I have. I had protruding labia minora which developed over the last 5 or so years. I became more and more obsessed about the whole thing and went to different gynos + a plastic surgeon - no-one would operate on me because they said I was perfectly normal. I got so desperate that when I finally found someone who said he would operate on me I jumped at the chance and had the surgery the following week (the surgeon was Dr Timothy Cooper). I didn't ask enough questions about the surgery - or he didn't really answer some of the questions I asked with a clear explanation, but he seemed so confident that it was going to be easy and that that I would look normal afterwards. He used the amputation technique but stitched me using a zig zag method which meant that I had stitches going all the way inside me which resulted in significant scarring and uneven edges. It was so bad that I became extremely depressed until I finally found a surgeon who was able to do a reconstruction on me. I still have some scarring from that initial surgery. I guess that I wanted to advised anyone wanting to have this surgery to ask the right questions e.g. what method of stitching will the doctor use? what technique? & ask to see photos of other girls who have had the op!!!! I think that Dr Cooper is probably a very good surgeon - he just used the wrong method on me. Whatever you do, make sure that the surgeon does not do "zig zag" stitching!!!

You are exactly right. Given the wide range of doctors that can perform a labiaplasty, it is very important for women to know what questions to ask and what answers to expect. As a vaginal surgery consultant, I am always amazed that women don't ask me more questions. To help, I've put together a list of the top questions to ask your labiaplasty & vaginal rejuvenation surgeon.

Speak to as many doctors as you need to in order to find one that is qualified and makes you feel comfortable.

Suemy thanks for the information. It is difficult to find someone who will do this properly here in Perth. I want quite a lot of skin removed from the hood and inner labia and there is no one who is prepared to do this.

Hello Jil,

I've only just gone back onto this forum to see your reply and can only hope I'm not too late. As I said I had protruding labia minora and no-one in Perth except Dr Cooper would operate. If I could turn back time I would never have gone through the operation now. I also had tissue I wanted removed surrounding the clitoral hood. Fortunately Dr Cooper did not touch this and he ended up actually removing most of my labia minora underneath - not what I wanted! I had asked for a trim, not removal. For the psychological trauma and physical discomfort I've been through I would advise that unless you are prepared to leave Perth and get this done by someone who has a reputation for doing these ops in another part of the world, don't get it done!

I would advise people to not go to Timothy Cooper for any surgery. I had lipo on my saddlebags and thighs with him and a nose job and later a nose job revision. The lipo scars are still obvious 5 years later after being stitched with what looked like something my daughter came home with from her year 3 sewing class the other day and my nose is still not what I asked for, it is not much different from what I went in with. The uneven lumpiness and the bump still obvious despite his having two chances at it. He wasnt happy about doing the revision and was pretty rude and dismissive through all my consults. I really dont know why I went with his as I didnt like his manner....I guess I thought he would do a good job regardless.

So interesting to hear about someone else's experience with Dr Timothy Cooper. The stitching he did on me was quite unbelievable. I have since spent pretty much all of my money on trying to repair the damage. It has been the biggest mistake of my life. I never dreamed I would be one of these stories. I never considered labiaplasty as a risky operation. Would love to hear from other women who have had labiaplasty with him. I really hope that they didn't have a result like me.

i just had labiaplasty in perth and i went to Dr Goldman. He was awesome. i'm only 4 days post-op but have no complaints so far, he explained everything really well in the first pre-op consultation and i would recommend him to anyone looking to get labiaplasty in perth.

All I can say is thanks for sharing your story. I hope you get to a point where you can put much of the worst behind you.

I have actually at my latest count had 5 surgeries! But Im not here to thread jack.

Just want to say that none of us should think it`s like getting your nails done etc! I`m an example that things can go wrong for reasons to do with shady unskilled doctors, or just the way your body handles stiches and infections etc.

Also, most of us need much more rest and time off our feet than we are typically told.

My friends and I had our Labiaplasty performed by Dr Steven Singh, a Perth Gynaecologist. He was great in explaining the operation, brilliant surgery and great results. Would recommend him anytime.

Hi Susannah

How much did your Labiaplasty cost and did you get a local anaestetic? Can you pay in installments? Thanks

I know this is an extremely old post but I figured any girls in Perth would want this information.

Dr. Robert Goldman is AMAZING.
I had labiaplasty done in 2010 from him and honestly, I could not be more happier with the results.

I had an extremely protruding labia and also excess around my clitoral hood. I was planning on seeing several surgeons but my first appt with Robert Goldman was more than enough. I also had my mother accompany me as I was 17 years old at the time and having my mother feel comfortable as well was an important thing for me.

I think all up I paid 4-4.5k and you can go on a finance plan with them but I worked hard for it. If anyone has any questions pls lemme know
