yellow/orange discharge? Is this normal? Please help....

Hello all! What a wonderful site. I am a little over 3 weeks post op from a labiaplasty done by my ob-gyn. I dont know what method she used because we didn't call it anything but she cut the largest part of the labia off and then pulled it all down and resewed it all around the edges. It looks good, I am healing well. I had many many internal and external stitches because I had blood clots and had to go back in and have it redone immediately after coming out of the first surgery.

Here is my problem. Ok, so now I have a discharge. It is a weird orangy yellow and it is mucousy-slimy. I assumed it was from all the inside stitches dissolving and coming out, because they all have. But I still have some of that discharge. No smell, not yeasty or anything. It is very disturbing and I am worried. Call your doctor you say? Ahhhh, she is out of town....or I would. Any words of wisdom. I must throw in that I had an endometrial ablation procedure also, but I do not believe it could be due to that.

Thanks for your time and consideration,

Whoa Jezzygirl

Thanks for the replies! I took the advice of a reply and searched an endometrial ablation forum and guess what? It is clearly an after effect of this procedure to have this neon yellow dark orange discharge! Thank goodness! I thought, well I don't know what I thought....:) Anyway, thank you so much for your advice! I wish I had done this sooner and I will suggest to my obgyn that she advise patients that this will happen. There are so many many things I did not ask. I basically walked in and said can you cut these big labia off..... and so here I am. Guess there were other ways to go about it.

I am 3 weeks and a few days post op. I am hoping for the best.

Whoa jezzygirl

Hi whoajezzygirl,

Welcome and congrats! Do you know where the discharge is coming from? From the incision line or from inside? If it's from your incision line, I'd be concerned. But if it's from inside, it could be from you ablation. In some women, it's normal to have a yellowish discharge for up to a few weeks after an ablation.

When does your doc return? Does she have another doctor that's covering for her while gone and maybe you could call that person jsut to be sure?

I had a crazy bright yellow discharge for a bit. It was nothing for me but best to talk to your PS . . . you'll find a lot about this by doing a search for "yellow" on this board. LOL.

Yep, I had the ablation and yes its normal as you already know....Mine gradually reduced to a clear discharge over 6 weeks, then to nothing.

I don't even get one spot of a period now...YIPPEE!!! To think I put up with years of nightmarish periods.
