I need advise regarding choosing preservatives for my DIy recepies as i have no clue as to how to choose!!.
Just to give you an idea
My ingredients are: Niacinamaide, CO q10, Alpha lipoc acid in cetaphyll cream base. I am also planning to make glycolic lotion.
Here is the link of the website . Its a canadian website as I live in Toronto.
(External links to suppliers not allowed)
Which one of these will be for me
Germall plus liquid (INCI Nomenclature: Propylene Glycol (and) Diazolidinyl Urea (and)
Optiphen Liquid (INCI/Ingredients: Phenoxyethanol and Caprylyl Glycol )
Thanks guys for all your help.
If I dont want to use preservative , for how many days can i use my DIY refrigerated cream safely?
I am going to use cetaphyll as a base cream for niacinamide, Alpha lipoic acid and q10.
Cerave is not available in toronto so I am using Cetaphyll. Also any reomendations for any lotion other than cetaphyll ?
Imanaya, I have used Aveeno lotions as a base also and they work well, though I like CeraVe better.
The scale I use is great for small batches. I would recommend getting the package of weigh boats as well. They are perfect for weighing and mixing. They are disposable, but can be reused many times before going on to the next one.
Just one more question please
Is this an all purpose preservative . Does this preservative has any limitaions. I want to use it in my cerave or cetaphyll base cream with mostly atives in powder forms. This will help me in derterming how much quantity I should order .

You do not need preservative for those creams UNLESS you are adding extra water. Then you only add enough preservative to cover the amount of water you are adding. If just powder actives, you don't need extra preservative.
